saw this for sale a little out of town on Friday, az must not be like Florida or new York. we finally got to meet up this morning about a hour away. 85 250r! has compression, holds water, has brakes. rear caliper stud is missing so it looks like it's spinning a little. probably find other things to deal with but I'm happy. Like MRC says, gas tank, seat, plastics is all there. and it's not seized. Not sure what the plan is, keep it and ride it, fix it and trade it, just sit back and stare at it. 1st up is finding a place to unload it in my yard. jim270090

gassed it up, fired it off! both brakes work, headlight works, the kick start occasionally slips. Did I really need another ATC? not really but sometimes they make you buy them. jim

Hey Jim, that's a major score, Congratulations. There still out there.
I would keep that one for sure, but everyone is different, no one would slight you if you sold it either.
Merry Christmas!

definetly not for sale, maybe in the future I can trade it for something. I seem to get better deals when I horse trade. first up is to get the trike titled. Then seat cover, clean the carb, petcock for the tank, fork boots. polish the tank back to red, then line the 200x350, and the 250r and make a family pic. pic. jim

Just the fact that the front sprocket cover bolts are not snapped off is a major win. That is always the first thing that i see broken on any ATC or TRX 250R.
I wish i had your success finding these machines. I might need to let you find one for me and I'll come get it.

watched one of MRC videos, polished the tank back to red, those maier plastics sure doesn't want to turn to red. Next week, I'll probably load it up and have the DMV inspect it so I can get it titled. I don't mind throwing a seat cover or used tires on a beater trike, but for a nice trike, I won't spend a dime on it until my name is on the title.
since paint really doesn't do to well on the plastics, I'm tempted to order some red vynle wrap. jim

I remember when you first started posting here and you found 2 1987 200X's. Wherever you live it sure seems to be an ATC goldmine from time to time, good for you bud...

thanks! I've always been on the hunt for the next deal. cars, trucks, guns, junque, I hit yard sales, antique swap meets, most of my for sale ads will always have will trade for ...??? I watch craigslist, I haven't done Facebook yet, but when a ad does pop up, I don't mind driving to check out a deal. Sometimes deals pop up that seems too good to be true, ill still follow up, just in case. Took me 2 weeks to buy a 75 z50 off a guy that just couldn't find the time to meet up. this R I thought might have Been a scam but I followed through. jim

will do a little progress report on this post.
pulled the tank and fenders, removed the seat, painted the front fender today, will paint the rear tomorrow. hated to do it, but the faded pink Maier plastics won't come back in color. got the rear brake linkage figured out. heading to ace on Monday to see if I can find a bushing. if not I'll order one. all 4 tank bolts was missing, chased the threads, found 4 bolts, 3 of the radiator mount bolts were also missing and now replaced. Tuesday it's getting inspected for a bonded title. I did check the vin and there's no records so it should be good to go. As soon as I have the title in hand it's time to spend a few bucks and make it look presentable. local guy who fixes up and sells bikes already wants it (probably to flip). I told him it's not for sale, but I'm open to trade, ive been thinking about a old chevy truck or another el camino project. jim

I saw the ad Friday before Christmas, I even sent a link to jimflightofphoenix, I wasn't going to respond to the ad but the curiosity got the better or me. The guy lives in pierce az about 1.5 hours SE of tucson. Crazy thing is the ad stayed up until Monday after Christmas, which is the day I got it. I figured someone would have got it before me, but the owner took a day to respond to each email. jim

okay, got it inspected yesterday, bought the bond, title is in my name today! so I officially own a liquid cooled R. also ordered a seat cover, grips, petcock rebuild kit and a pair of scoop stickers. Slimed the leaky rear tires and I'll see if it holds air, if not I'll just order a new set of tires. jim

I've been sending progress pics to the guy I got the trike from. He's also a car guy and so am I. I told him we have 2 chevelles and always looking for chevelle stuff. yesterday he texts me, his buddy has a bunch of 70 chevelle parts and he also might have his 425hp 427 chevy motor for sale. It's good to keep in touch with previous owners, never know what will turn up. Next up, order a front tire. jim
