Beware of scammers in the classifieds

Posted looking for a 6 speed transmission for my tri z got a message from an Alvis Scott. Sends me a picture of a 5 speed tranny told him I need a 6 speed he sends me a picture of a random 6 speed tranny I told him that’s not even a tri z tranny. Here’s the best part he sends me a picture of a mint condition 86 and claims it’s getting parted out tomorrow. No way in hell anyone would part that out. Freaking sick of these idiots trying to screw other people over.

Been seeing that a bunch on forums and FB groups. Last wanted ad I posted on a forum I got a bunch of "Oh this guy has one, his email is ______" type stuff from new members.

If someone wanted names, numbers, and emails, standing within earshot of a Harbor Freight checkout would do nicely. No digital trail either.

But, yeah, anyone without at least a couple years as a participating forum member in the classifieds would be reason for hesitation.

The elderly are big targets, but I don't think many of them are riding trikes anymore, which is probably why they got old.

this is why eBay is so much better then face book. I honestly feel market place should be policed and SEPARATE division on FB. I want nothing to do with social media. I do not care to be your friend unless you know me. I only want to buy parts or sell parts. The forms are better then Facebook but long story short only ever pay goods and services unless you have a relationship with a repeat seller.

Market Place is safer then Groups on facebook. If FB would go away the forms would be more active and have good people back on them.

Don't worry. FB wont be around 20 years from now...it like ATV and trikes will be replaced with something better and electric.

I feel the same way I have no social media besides watching videos on YouTube. I get after my wife constantly for being on social media. She literally checks it every ten minutes I always say it’s the same trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro it was ten minutes ago. Drives me nuts. She does show me trikes for sale on Facebook marketplace all the time.

That’s all I use for parts but I can’t find an 86 tri z 6 speed transmission only 5 speeds that’s why I posted on here to see if anyone has one.

Done that before. Put a few part numbers in this morning too there’s nothing.

The only trans that has a few matching part numbers are from the Ty350. There’s one on eBay I don’t want to spend 250 for a trans I can only use a few parts.

Rare as hens teeth. Only ones I’ve seen or heard of for sale seem to be worth as much as a complete trike. I’ve given up.

I think the tranny from the ty350 would work but I have no idea on the ratios. I saw one 6 speed for sale a long time ago on eBay but I didn’t buy it. Regret that.
