As the title implies, I want to fit a 26mm-28mm flatslide carb on my first Gen 200X. Does anyone have any info on if/how these style carbs fit? I’ve done a fair amount of research on sister models like the XR200 and CRF230 and these style engines respond quite well to the PWK28 (D shaped slide), the TM28 and maybe even the FCR28? Sadly, I doubt if anyone is going to shell out the time and money to dial in an FCR on a 2 valve thumper.

Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback on your aftermarket/larger than OEM carbs on your first Gen 200X! Thanks

We ran the TM 28mm mikuni back in the day , much more responsive than the round slide 28mm mikuni .
A short aftermarket spigot intake is needed , the frame will need reliefed a little to get it to sit straight .
There is a thread on this site where Matt installed a FCR carburetor and claimed it worked great but he also had an extremely modified motor . I believe he cut the frame and reshaped it to fit .

White bros sold a Mikuni TM28 kit. I had 1 on my 84 200x. There was an aluminum flange, you bolted to cylinder head, piece of rubber hose, the stock air cleaner snorkel worked. but you had to use a twist throttle.

I know the spacing will be tight, I’ll look for the FCR thread. Thanks for the info!

You did ask the same question, in January, and you got similar replies.

You can look at it like this, ain't nobody replied who's done it recently. That means you can, then post some good content that's up to date. It'll help anyone else that's considering the same type of carb swap.

Anyone who's replied but hasn't done it within the last couple years may have some suggestions for parts, but those may not be available anymore. That's where you can sort it out and post current parts.

With this added I text your initial post makes more sense, I did search and find some info and pictures that I had not run across in my initial search. Trying different keywords apparently makes big difference.

I won’t make any promises but I aim to try to get a flatslide mounted in the limited space available and if I do I’ll update this thread for the next guy.

Thanks
