Hi, newbie here, I've been searching for the correct thread size for the nut that holds the shift lever to the worm drum. Neither my SAE nor metric thread pitch gauges seem to have the correct sizing. Anyone have one or know the size so I can get one of correct size/pitch. Thanx in advance.

See if you can find it here .
Almost all the bolts on these machines are
M6x1.00
M8x1.25
M10x1.25

partzilla.com or take the bolt off and size it. your metric pitch gauges should have the common sizes....shortline is wrong however. 1st time I've caught him wrong in a couple of 10 years. M6 is m6x1.0. I buy all my hardware from belmetric.com way cheaper then a hardware store unless you need 1 or two bolts. I buy everything 100pcs at a time. The stuff I can't get I will make.

There's a chance someone threaded the wrong nut on in the past. That would explain why no gauge would sit in.

I've seen plenty of SAE fasteners forced/flopped into holes on these machines.

Thank you as I now have the correct sized nut for the worm(sub trans) gear!
Both my counter guy and I thought the measure wasn't 1.25 as the gauge did not quite sit in the threads for count but with lil effort from socket it went on smoothly. I am using the good drum out of my parts engine as someone actually drilled/tapped a bolt into the end that now has become loose/wobbly. It may have contributed to internal case transmission breakage as I now will have to split the cases and see what I find.
