just bought an 1983 200 cleaned the carb, cleaned out the gas tank put new rear brakes on! got it running starts first pull idles perfect but when you rev it up it has a bad vibration or bad chattering that sounds like its coming from the rear end but its hard to tell where exactly its coming from! dont own a mechanics stethoscope! it shifts perfect but chatters in neutral and in all the gears when its in high rpm! wondering if anybody else has had this issue? had centrifugal clutch apart looked good but cant take the other clutch off until i get the socket! clutch issue, exhaust, chain guard? any help would be great!

Maybe it's your cam chain or in the valves.

Is yours a BigRed ? If yes, does it still have a "carrier" rack over the plastic tool-cargo box out back ? My rear carrier's liftable portion over the cargo box rattled hellaciously at high RPMs until I sleuthed out the noise source. I then used some wide rubber bands from the broccoli bunches I buy at the grocery store to fasten the rear carrier down tightly. A few years after that, I looked up the part number to the actual Honda "carrier" bands on Partzilla's website and bought 2 new Honda rubber bands and have been rattle-free since.
IF yours is not a BigRed, have a friend hold the throttle at the RPM (while in neutral) when the rattle is occurring and, wearing a glove, just grab and push things near to where you hear the noise and maybe you'll discover a loose bolt or nut or chain box or muffler heat shield or missing rubber bit, etc...
