Hello,

I have what i believe to be a 1985 350x carb. The number on the side is QA05AABLE. However, Unlike all the other QA05A carbs i have ever seen this one is built like a 86 350x carb. It has the rubber plug and the removable extra starter jet like the QA10A 1986 carb. All my other QA05A carbs just have the pressed in starter jet.

Has anyone heard of this before? Or could it possibly be to another honda machine?

Thanks

Compare it to a 1980s trx350d carburetor or it’s possibly a later OEM replacement .

That's interesting, no chance the number is being misread on the carb? The TRX350/D ones were QA03A

Based on my research, QA05A should only be 85 ATC350X unless somehow Honda mislabeled some, or maybe someone modified it to the newer style (not sure if that's even possible).

No, i have it all cleaned up. Definitely a QA05. Has me stumped aswell. Maybe a oem replacement after they updated the design but before the 86 came out? Although like you said. Maybe a machinist was able to modify it, but it doesnt look that way.

Thanks!

My 1986 carb is the same as you describe, i was looking at the diagram and pictures of other carbs and they all have the pressed in jet. I thought mine was a home modification but if yours has it also then maybe this was a factory design???
