Talking specifically with the 86 350X and it's cast carrier with the large slots (for the Allen wrench to adjust).

I can see mine is not stock- it is a billet aftermarket carrier. Nice, but not correct. Original carriers are hard to find but there is a cast aftermarket one that looks "right" yet is listed for other models-

Anyone try one of these?

Trying to cross parts and the internal bearings are the same part number (if I remember correctly- I looked at a lot of stuff in a short time), but I'm not sure about lengths and outside diameter (but the exterior o-rings seems to be the same too).

So, it SEEMS to be "right" but I was hoping for a second opinion before I spend more money.

If you want to trust what bikes these aftermarket sellers claim these fit, here is some good news. This manufacturer says this will fit the 1986 350X, and also the 1992-2012 TRX 300EX: https://www.ebay.com/itm/133720486337?_skw=1986+atc+350x+rear+axle+bearing+ carrier&epid=1967631860&itmmeta=01KKVWWTT4X7PSP4HRAJKHMHA3&hash=item1f225cb1c1:g:KoUAAOxyA9dSXfNf&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAABEGfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBwQ6GdV WHLVaicaKtYBBhZ3P%2BoGbwHC3Dh756EN7T41uJTgGNdaHZ%2 FzO86gI4YuuIRE2PNpLZ%2B2BoppABs5Zh43boo3c%2B22FejZ dsaDQhixwK6vWcuhsd5teWnKhbkdgiUIBVm1sLh7NS77lIAzCl ycVM23gYVa86hiCb1I0mQpdkUmg%2B0eXHecAgxiHJKzbLo9v% 2BAob5%2FS%2FQuobxspSPtFSLpL003IWY6jTdm5uchYGdqB6o 1TNVj9SUdlD1odn%2BwFNAiDYMkioj48ufRRus6EpBJmXgKcjb AptfVR%2F8XNZVdzunVkPFIJcf3JMtj%2FxT8nERo9VBQ%2Bbs tpr%2F1AseH%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6Kt8_yeZw

Now, this bearing carrier, in the style you like, says it fits 1997-2009 TRX 300EX: https://www.ebay.com/itm/282006360321?_skw=1986+atc+350x+rear+axle+bearing+ carrier&itmmeta=01KKVWWTT4YPWRFTBXKV73CSKX&hash=item41a8e39101:g:KQYAAOSw2x5f08jS&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA4GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBd%2BBo m8NkK8JPDV3DoLhj3FicAmg1R6132QVac3UVMv3QRmhpu07Qua nXCd9wFVDUjCQuWRuYLS7ZvE3KavmZp8r%2FxMD1sPoZzTCnM3 C1jwrOQ47XkSBaNMWSIGVfsQ8cZmQu%2Fash5S0TRU8Lxkoszt k0pyl14Er3rcu6gjyVFZhVB75zx1cZdouQU8wTzeMtPqdL8zN2 OTZMmd9EXe8XM9F34rzVXTvacFNkx0fm%2FRdtoiIkIMySG9FG pLeYbBMxqDkPAW5rZu%2F4B2be6sq6C%7Ctkp%3ABlBMUKKt8_ yeZw

While it doesn't specifically list the 1986 350X, it does give a glimmer of hope.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I was asking.

These guys will say anything to sell stuff... hoping it is not returned for a refund later.

I compared bearing part numbers and external O-ring numbers below:

1992 TRX300:
Bearing- 91051-HA2-013
O-ring- 91353-HA2-003/-005

Carrier- 52201-HC0-670 / HM3-000

1986 350X:
Bearing-91051-HA2-003/-013
O-ring- 91353-HA2-003/-005

Carrier- 52201-HA5-670

In theory, it should fit fine... Might be wider overall, or some other problem...

PS: I just discovered the collar between the bearings is the same part number... (42621-HA5-000) So, the spacing might just be the same here!!

And if you order it for a bike not listed in their fitment guide, you would probably have difficulty returning it. In my experience with ATC 250R and TRX 250R stuff (which a whole lot interchanges), a lot of the time, the ATC will not be listed as proper fitment, but the TRX 250R will. If a reputable, aftermarket manufacturer says it will interchange, I would believe it. But as these bikes get older, they get forgotten. Even LSR's website doesn't list 350X bearing carriers anymore, but they used to. You might try contacting them, and ask about 350X stuff. They might just divulge what, if anything, interchanges.

Looking at an original (crusty) carrier for the 86 350X, these options we've found have a wider area outside the swingarm. That means, they'd (probably) have to be machined down for clearance of the sprocket hub. Maybe.

I may just find a crusty original to deburr and media blast, if it's structurally sound. I had hoped to have a workable solution moving forward...

Note the thickness of the flange for the chain adjustment:

They both look like the standard OEM flange thickness to me. I don’t see the issue, nor the need to possibly machine it down.

Look where the wrench goes in to turn it- those "nubs" are considerably thicker than the original, which is essentially flat on the open end.

Maybe it clears just fine, but it is considerably different.

Yeah I see what you mean now.

You just have to use the 86 sprocket bolts and the countersunk sprocket.

It's better to use them on the 85 setup (thinner carrier) too because if the chain come off it won't get wrapped up in the bolts and chew the carrier all up. I have the 86 bolts here at home and on Ebay.
