Engine Popping

My '87 T3 is completley stock. After riding for a while and the engine is warm, when I open the throttle all the way I here a popping sound when I close the throttle. Does that mean the engine is running lean in the upper RPM range?

Maybe a carb rebuild kit would help?

everything is new, motor and carb.

it could be running lean umm u say it happens when it gets warm i doubt it it could possable be vapor locking i doubt that cause the engine would be dieing umm try cleaning the carb just cause its new dont mean that it dont have a piece or trash in it

everything is clean. It did the same thing even before i rebuilt the motor. I'm thinking I'll go to a 275 or 280 main, instead of the stock 270?
