I just got a go-cart last night for $100...needs TLC but runs :-D .I would like to know how to take the govenor off...it has a 5hp briggs&stratton motor. Can anyone help me... thanx

i think the govenor it's by the carb... it's by the throttle arm

yea.. it's a screw thats like 1 inch long

It just helped on acceleration...it takes off like a rocket :shock: . It still doesn't go faster on top end...is there anything else I can remove? thanx

Well, my engine is running kinda crappy,(fuel delivery probs. :rolleyes: ), but it goes good. Roughly,it goes about 20 mph...

Hey, i just built a racing go kart, 5hp briggs motor, bent, welded, cut all metal. Anyways, heres how you can make it faster....
1.) Mess around with your gear ratios.
2.) Billet Rod
3.) Dyno Cam
4.) Get carb blueprinted
it all depends on how much money you want to put in it. If you want a fast motor, find a builder who will do it.

get some nitrous and run it on alchohol and mess with the gear ratios...or fab up new mounts and put a tecate motor in it or something...

Here is what I was thinking yesterday,has anyone seen the T-rex from kawasaki?Well I was thinking about cutting the rear end off it, and putting the zinger on the back of it. I don't feel like typing details, but what do ya'll think?
