350x suspension on a 200x? How much modification is needed?

i wana put 350x forks and rear shock on my 200x and was wondering how much work is needed to do so? Has anyone done this? hwo did it ride afterwards?

Sweet upgrades :twisted: , but I'd only recommend doing in combination with an extended swingarm.

The front-end is easy all you need to do is remove the steering stop tray that is on the headtube of the stock 200x frame. And your gonna need to replace it with a small piece of steel. That will act as a new stop for the 350x front-end.

The rear end is a little more complicated It requires modifying the rear shock mount. The pivot point of the mount needs to be lowered.

I don't have time to get into more details right now. time to go to work. :(

I have a 350X axle,rear sock and swinger on my 86 200X. I like it alot,the guy told me it was a bolt on.

I have a 350x rear shock if your interested Jason.

You got a problem...
Since calfab swingarms have a fixed mount, there is no way to move it to allow for a longer shock. I'm not sure what else you can do to make it fit.

i was thinkign since it doesnt use that bracket it woudl just bolt right up?

I can't think of a way for it to work with your setup. Unless you could make some sort of bracket that would some how allow you to bolt the shock on in a lower location.

I was pretty young when I still had my modded '85 that I raced a few times. I blew the stock rear shock jumping it one day. My father found a 350 shock somewhere or another, and fabbed up a new linkage setup out of some steel. There was a good deal of more travel, but it rode far stiffer (Keep in mind I only weighed in the area of 75lbs in this time frame). It was a good mod and never gave any trouble. We tried doing a direct boltin, but as you can see from the picture above, unusuable. The bike looked almost factory, but I still had stock front forks so it rode lower in the front. Took some getting used to, but I would reccomend swapping in 350 (or better yet 250r) forks in. This is pretty much a 100% improvement over stock 200x stuff. You will have a whole new bike, and shortly after you will want as much horsepower as your average 250r.

Well theres no way to refill a 200x shock so a good one is becomeing rare. What about a 86-87 200x shock? are the refillable? And would it mount up?

200x shocks are easy to find because the have a very low failure rate. Theres about 10 on ebay right now, and they usually go for $10-$30. A 350X shock is a lot harder to find because there simply werent nearly as many made, so I guess the first question to this thread would be "What is it you hope to gain or wish to accomplish by using a 350X shock over a 200x shock?" and go from there.

well at first i was lookign to make the trik set up off the ground a litle higher and have a little more travle. but haveing a calfab it looks like thats not goign to happen. But my rear shock Is almost shot.
