Rebuilt motor, now having some problems.... 85 200x

I just put in a new transmission in my 200x, and after it was all together I went to kick start it. The starter only rotated about 1/4 of its normal path, and then it felt like there was a conflict inside the kick starter gears that made it impossible to move the kick starter any farther. Hopefully, I can take off parts of the crankcase without having to take out the engine again. :? Any insights on what the problem may be?

On the right-side crankcase cover ...the outer kicker gears..did you put them in right? I'm not talking about inbetween the main cases...just that little cover. There are little marks on the gears(that need to line up) and one of the marks lines up with a mark on the shaft. This may be your problem..Do you have a manual?

yes i have a manual, ill check it out in more depth and take that part off thursday... i work 3-10 mon-wed so i dont have any time for it till then. thanks for the insight!
