Well I have to give all the credit to Bill(3 or die) for getting me this trike. He found a killer deal on a tecate and had to put it in my face that he was getting it. I have an extreme passion to own one. Well he picked it up and road it around for awhile, enjoying every minute. But his real passion is for an 86 R. So he broke the news the other day and said it was mine!!! So I am a proud owner of an 86 Tecate T-3. :D
I dont know much about it so dont ask me anything yet. I should have it in my possession next weekend and can take better pics and everything.

Hey I've got pics of that bike also. You got a good deal on that trike, I told Bill he was selling it too cheap. How do you know Bill? I know he drives all over the country buying and selling trikes, he bought my old 250R from my bro. He's been trying to talk me out of my 86R but it aint gunna happen :p. He still has to deliver it to you right.

congrats and welcome to the Tecate club....you will soon be the envy of all the "fast guys". As far as those tires, they look pretty close to the stock size. This bike is made to slide.........too big, balloon-ey tires will hurt the handling. You won't need big tires for soaking up the bumps either, the stock travel is 12". Enjoy your find....happy riding.

very nice looks like it is in great shape, dont see much of them around, Hell I never even seen on before. I know bill also he drove up here to missouri and bought my 85 honda 350X from me. I now have a 86 250R and he was also interested in buying it from me to. Me must really want a 86. The tecate is the fastest stock 2 stroke made becides the tigers, right?

Did you buy Nicks? I know he had a couple on there. It had some cool mods. It just needs some plastic to make it better. I was trying to get that one for Bill but it was gone.........peace

Thanks guys for the replies. I am totally excited and cant wait. In exactly one week I should have it in my possession and riding the fool out of it.
Question for your tecate guys though, were is a good place to get a coil for the 86 T-3? Bill said that mine was having issues shortly after he washed it. So now I am on the prowl for a coil asap so I can have a spare just in case I need it next weekend. Thanks for any info you can give me..........peace

Well the 86-87 Tecate came with a Uni Trak system. I think it was made by pro link. It gave you tons of travel over the normal conventional shock....or so they say. It was rated 10.0" of travel where most other trikes had around 9.5" or so.

UNI-TRAK is a trade mark name for Kawasaki's rising-rate linkage-type rear suspension system. It has spanned a couple different designs. The 86/87 Tecate 3-wheeler's particular unit is the last revision of Kawasaki's first production go round at a mono-shock system. There is nothing special about that design. It was revised for an underneath the swingarm linkage like most others manufacturers were running the following year on the KX's and Tecate-4. Suzuki's "Full Floater" system of the early-mid 80's also used the same type of set-up as the early Kawasaki Uni-Trak.
Pro-Link is the trade mark name for HONDA's linkage rear suspension and has nothing to do with the UNI-TRAK.
Mono-Cross is Yamaha's linkage name.
ScottZJ, that's a great KXT! I love the lo-pro fast trekkers. They are similar to what's on my 85 R. Your's are 18x11-10. The ones I have are 18x11-9. It'll probably spin completely out with those spacers and those tires.

Hey Jeb thanks for the update on that. I knew someone with tons of knowledge would be able to clarify that for me and others. I am learning now that I will be getting one. I am not sure if I will keep the spacers and wheels on there or not. I have my eye on a set of Hoosiers and might see if they could make the front to match.........peace
