with a couple a years under your belts....id like to hear if any traditions are emerging......

out here we have a tradition of meeting up at the drags late afternoon and staying til dusk dragging

maybe you can all do the same out there on behalf for all those who are unable to attend

sound off haspin trikefest vets......

i think the trikefest checklist thread by HondaATC did it for me...i mean, it brought it home that once again haspin trikefest WILL happen and i wont be there :( :( :(

im turning green with envy and i would like to apologize in advance in case i melt down once again and start dropping jealousy bombs.....

forgive me TF04 attendees...for i know not what i do :) :) :)

Well I'm not really a veteran, but it has become a tradition the past couple of years since I've not been there for someone out of the group to call me and give everyone a few minutes to talk to me, which was real cool. Made you want to be there even more. Since I'll be there this year, We'll call someone else who didn't get to make it and rub it in their face some :D

Traditions???? Hmmmm, Well for one that is always the best that can be is to invade Jeswineharts camp site for darn good eating, socializing ( sp? ), and just good ole hanging out with friends. John and Liway sure know how to cook some good food. We also hang out near the one Pavilion also. The Pavillion is where we try to do all the repairs if & when they are needed.

Kicking back at a camp fire and create a verbal message board since we don't have out computers and internet with us. Maybe we should all have a old key board with us so we don't get such a bad case of withdraw. lmao

Taking the 1/2 car out for a drive around Haspin was a good one also. It wasn't the best machine there, how ever it sure turned a lot of heads. Not to mention all the thumbs up and laughter. It bites that tradition ended though. The car is gone ( well 1/2 of it is anyway ).

Another one is visiting the shoe tree. Those who have been to Haspin know about it. 1 tree with 500+ pairs of shoes in it.

I am sure another one will be watching Tri-Jim climb Devis backbone acting like a clown. You have to see it in person to appreaciate it. In fact watching Jim ride any where is good. He is totally nuts on the Blaster. Need a floor swept? Call Jim! Want to see someone go down a hill on only his front tires? Watch Jim!

That is a few of the things that I have seen or can see becoming tradition.

Ooops!!!! I forgot one. Watching Jeswinehart load 20 cases of Jenny's into his Blazer. You see 2 things when this happens: A lot of Jenny's and a smile from ear to ear. lol

I got a kick out of watching a 6'8" German guy on a tecate riding in the mud for the first time.He also made the tecate look like a tecate 60.
ANother tradition would be watching kimmer rearrange the body on his nice Ford p/u. Maybe kimmer will drop another digital camera in the mud this yr :)
I plan to get there early again to sweep the floor off under the pavillion.
If you can get to Haspin for trikefest, defiantely go. :D

You must have a good sense of direction and some what know the area. I have rode in new places at night and drove off 3-4 drop offs. I didn't crash ( Fall Off ) but I did about end any chances of having kids. lol

This is a great thread! One of the funniest memories for me was seeing Hagen riding around on Hunters little LT50 and Trike riding it and wheeling everywhere. Hopefully this year Ill find some one that wants to race on the big MX track. Holic you still wanting to race the air cooled R? :D

Last years night-time search and rescue operation for the missing Hagan had to be a real treat for BillXR. He made the mistake of following TriZ-Jim and me, and Im sure he kept wondering if he'd ever return in one piece!

LOL,I havent thought about that ride in awhile.I kept looking back waiting to see the finger from billxr, but all he was doing was pulling the ds650 off trees and boulders. That is a nice quad but it wasnt setup for the terrain. lil too wide for the trails and enough power to lose traction on any surface.
This year I hope we can get a big group ride together and actually stick together for more than 5 minutes. I want to take the group down the rocky streambed to the bottom of devils backbone.(Tim sr and TRIKE know which trail I'm talking about). The only way out is up the backbone, the gnarly streambed or a nasty off camber trail that is smooth and very slippery when wet and has a 30' dropoff into the streambed if you dont make the off cambers. So slippery that you cant stand up on it.I got stuck on the off cambers right after it rained and I stopped sliding a few feet before the drop,my tire caught on a root and I stopped and didnt move for 10 minutes. It took that long to decide how I was going to get my blaster up the hill w/o sliding over the edge.I secured the blaster and went to work. I had to build a small stonewall and line it with logs.I rode out riding against the logs and rocks(manmade berm).

I have lots of trail stories from Haspin.

We shouldn't have a problem this year. They no longer allow riding after 9PM ( Indiana time ).

night time rides out here are a big thing...we take a little wood and some gas in a empty water bottle for an accelerant....couple beverages of choice and as we say out here...."bump off and throw a couple"

Many years ago ( when we first started going to Haspin Acres ) we went to go to another camp site ( about 9-10 PM ) to visit with some friends. We strapped on 2 cases and headed out( there was 6 of us). The shortest path was through some tough and wooded terrain. It was only a 10-15 minute jaunt. Well the lead guy took a wrong turn and we realized we were completely lost in No mans land. It gets very dark in the woods at night. We rode for 1-2 hours trying to find our way out. We didn't have any luck. So we stopped and built us a make shift camp on the one hill. We were getting ready to build a camp fire when one of the guys noticed a small camp fire in the distance ( barely visable ). So we headed over towards that camp fire. When we got there we found out it was our friends camp site. They had heard us riding around and though we were just doing a night ride. They said we had been within 50ft of the camp site earlier. arggg
We were late but did make it. To bad for them we had drank most of our cargo. lol
We took the long way back to camp about 2 hrs later. ;)

So I do know the pleasure ( and stress ) a night ride can be.
