hey i had an old Hirth motor of a Chaperal snomobile, it was a 300cc single, all you needed to do was change the pull start, maybe that would help.

i know that TV Tom Ivo made a 2 engine draster around 1959 or so with two buick nailheads that were side by side and he made one run backwards so that he could connect them with a chain drive. you'd probably need have a custom cam made and alot of other little stuff. if you really want to do it, im sure you could

Apparently someone worked on a cr250r and now its running backwards. Think its the flywheel? I told him I'd check on here and maybe find the cause. Thanks wil.

I seen it happen on a old yamaha "IT" 175 I think it was, we had the two wires crossed from the stator where they plug in outside the motor. It was somthing like one wire was red, and one was orange, well after 20 years the red faded to orange and they got hooked up backwards. I still think someone should put a switch in between the connectors, if they get stuck, turn it off, flip the switch and you got reverse.

Thats a VERY interesting idea you got there Jesse....Might have to try it out. :D

This reverse start/run is a common thing in 2 cycles. This how gas 2cycle golf carts (the real ones!) are set up. They use an electric starter/generator that runs either direction controled by a forward, reverse cutout switch.

Yup, my buddy Andy had a old harley davidson 3 wheeled goldcart that we had car tires on and rode it around and broke trails on it. It had a lever that you would yank, and it would simply cut the motor, and start it in the opposite direction.

The old Bultacos were famous for this trick!

that would be cool to have a r that runs in reverse. I've got a cr igintion on mine so, I can't swtich the wires and try, It would definetly get some attention at the least.

killborg, my brother has a harley golf cart like that. i never knew that the enging actually ran backwards to make it go in reverse. i guess you learn something new every day. thanks for the free lesson...and by the way, we are trying to find a rod kit for it if you know anything about it.

I think the ski doo snowmobiles use this to do reverse also, its called RER. Rotax electronic Reverse. I belive with these you can leave them running and hit the button. I bet it sounds funny hearing the engine slow down.

here is your answer, buy a new flywheel key...yours is missing or it sheared. blasters are also famous for this. I had a blaster do it, took me a while to figure it ot, but it is the key.

The ski-doo does do this for reverse and when you hit the reverse switch it does not skip a beat, It's real trick!!!!

I replaced the charge coil on the stator of my blaster. I put it in upside down when I installed it. It took me forever to get it started but it finally did and it ran like crap, while it was running I put it in gear and popped the clutch and the bike took of in reverse and it almost flipped me over the bars. If the charge coil is backwards it will have the same effect as if the flywheel magnets are on wrong. 2 stokes are capable of running in reverse but a 4 stroke wont run because the valves will make it miss fire
