Hey Guys
My brother and I decide to buy a used 86 atc350x to refurbish and to have as a spare. But the bike has a few problems and I need some personal and or expert advice on the following problems.
1.) The guy we bought the bike from bent the small chain slider's steal mounting bracket in (towards the motor)that is directly under the big chain slider that wraps around the swing arm. I am not to sure what the technical name for this small chain slider part is and if it is call a chain slider. What I was wondering is what would be the best way to straighten this out with out breaking it off or doing any damage to the frame from heating it or trying to hammer it back into place. How much support does this little slider give to the chain and it's correct tension? Could I just cut off the small chain slider metal bracket or is that not a good idea. What should I do?
2.) The guy told us that the motor needed a new ring job and timing chain because it was noisy and he had taken the top end apart but never touched it for the past 2 years and now there is some rust on the inside of the cylinder. Would honing do the job or should we just bore it out to the next bigger size of piston? The inside of the cylinder looks smooth and fine except for the rust without any noticeable scratches. Also, the bike sat for a couple of year out in the elements( hot summers and alot of cold winters) and I was wondering if and how I should flush the oil cooler lines because of rust or other stuff. What should I do?
3.) The last question I have is how do you repair the stator cover where the chain usually hit's the cover when it comes off. Also, does anyone know where a person can get honda paint #'s to match the red frame paint?
