im not too far from ontario, im down in gouverneur ny, (about 15 - 30 minutes from the canadian border), i'm sure me and a few friends might be up for it, i'd have my 85 R, and depending on who would wanna go there would be a 86 350x, a 99 banshee, and a few others..,, my only problem is if they will let me over the border this time, the last time i tried going up to canada with a few friends (just to see family, i swear!, LOL), they denied us and sent us back, i guess we didnt make a good impresson on the border guards or whatever you call them with a 2 big trucks and a trailer full of atv's, of course, half of us didnt have ID and the cars were registered to my friends parents names, so that really screwed us up,, i'll have to let you know for sure later on.

LOL wont let you over the border, Hopfully we get even more ppl coming,
I get a Ontario magazine, ATVRIDER, i am sure some of you have saw it i was thinking about sending them a letter telling them about it and maybe putting it in the magazine to get lots of 3 wheelers out to gopher dunes

Hey...I live about 5 mins from gopher dunes, in St. Williams. I'll probably go - a Big Red, 250sx, timberwolf, warrior, 300ex and maybe a 200x. How many people you got so far?
thehickfarmer
05-26-2004, 04:27 PM

05-30-2004, 04:07 PM
how much is the entry fee for gopher dunes? anybody from eastern ontario going?
erussell
05-30-2004, 04:36 PM
fee for 2004 is $15 per rider per day, regardless of age or length of time they ride for the day. We strongly encourage all riders and participants to come out to practice with a friend. NEVER ride alone, as breakdowns and injuries occasionally occur where one must seek help. At all times, for riders under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian of legal age must sign in the minor and they will be fully responsible for them
Helmets, eye protection and over-the-ankle boots are mandatory riding gear.
Overnight camping is allowed at Gopher Dunes at a nightly rate of $10 per vehicle (this rate is over and above the per person gate admission fees).
That is the fees. I added the bit about the boots so no one shows up in their runners and hopes to ride.

Well TrikeFest Ontario is just over two months away and seems to be slowing down not growing. I have taken the week off work before TF because my son is going to Sick Childerns for heart surgery on the Monday, but I will still be there for Friday night. I figure we can start showing up Friday and Saturday morning.
I am not sure what plans to make as a group ( i.e. woods ride @ 10:30-12, lunch @ 12:00-1:00 etc.). What stucture did all you at TF04 have so we get some ideas??

Do we actully know how many ppl are going, becuase it doesn;t seem like that many are, I will still go but only for one day, I am working 60 hour weeks, and want to come up saturday morning nice and early ride all day and then head home. I am also selling all of my bikes and trikes except for one 350x, If you have all that going on that monday are you sure you still want to go that weekend? I am not counting on the hickfarmer going since he was buying that 250r off of you and never did, he was buying dual exhaust off of me and never did so he probaly wont show.

hi erussle.
i have been to 3 of the haspin trikefest + this year (as far as i can figure anyway -lol) we only had 2 organiized events. the drags on a friday afternoon + mx runs on saturday aftetrnoon. everything else was just kinda "happening" on it's own. folks would get together for a group ride while others worked on their machines + swapped storys and the like.
i spent a fare amount of time cooking and that was kinda like hit or miss with times ,,,, wich worked out very well with me. i had a 3 hour window for breakfast and as folks woke up + got around they would wander on over and i'd put more eggs on or pancakes or what ever i was cooking. about the same thing for late lunchs + suppers. saturday was a little more organinzed for eats though ,,, we done a group picture saturday afternoon and at that time i stood up on my bigred and asked that as many as could make over to our camp was more then welcome to help out with deep frying up some turkeys ( 452x + his lady done uyp a couple + the freaksfix brothers was of great help )
i would recomend a group picture shot ,,,, makes for great show+ tell.
hope this helps somewhat ,,,, john

Thanks John and "pack". I long ago figured the Hick to be out but he is welcome to come (all feelings aside) because this is about getting together with our trikes and riding not about his dreaming to own stuff!
I am thinking about a Friday night and Saturday only for now (although you could stay longer) as most people seem too busy to come for the whole weekend so far. I have had a few emails regarding or plans and I don't know how to answer them. I think what John said about the riding seems to work so why not try it for our Ontario TF.
Now meals could be interesting. I suck at cooking most stuff but I will be bringing my camper (1993 Jayco) and it has a stove that can mount on the outside of the camper so anyone is free to use it. I can also bring my BBQ along and we can use it. Do I buy a bunch of food and have those that show throw in a few bucks for what they eat, or do we just bring our own? I need ideas as we need to have this planned soon.

hey man ! i'm their for sure. and like i said i'm real sorry for backing out last minute. for the cocoing i'm out on that . who actually knows how to cooking?

i think the hickfarmer is hiding his cooking skills by mis-spelling cooking - lol !
just poking fun at you hickfarmer ,,,, but did want to add that it works very well when people bring stuff with them ( at least so they know they are gonna eat). down at haspin many folks "donate" foods + we shared some wonderful eats. best recomendation about that is to keep it simple and easy to prepare in large helpings that can keep for couple of hours so folks can kinda drift in + help them selves.
(keep egg salads and the like on ice all the time,,, only takes about half hour sitting kinda warm to give you a upset belly)

erussle if you have everything to cook food, i dont mind bring a bunch, we also have a big house trailer but it is already in use that weekend, I can bring up a bunch of meat, and eggs, we own a 3 mil dollar farm, and get about 15,000 eggs a day, and we sell all poultry products, so i can just get it out of the freezers and bring any kind of chicken part you want, also we got lots of steak and sausage. I dont mind suppling food, just suck at cooking it. I would like to be there for as many meals as we are having on saturday. and then i will head it back home that night.

i think the best thing to do is. bacon and eggs for breakfast. some sandwiches for lunch and a good chicken dinner ! with some home fries. t tastes great and would be hard to prepare !

okay folks ,,, i done a little shopping today and wanted all to know what i am bringing as far as food and want to share ,,,,
breakfest stuff
100 breakfast sauage links , 6lbs of sauage + gravey ( biscuts + gravy mix),,, industrial size pancake batter mix (oughta feed 75 folks) ,,, gonna get a sack of potatos + and sevral dozen eggs. 1 big can of coffee + and a big 25-30 quart coffee pot. ( along with creamer + sugar )
lunch stuff
50+ brauts + 100 hot dogs (plus 6lb can of chili dog mix) ,,,, i kinda figure there will be plenty of chips folks are bringing to go along with above.
supper stuff.
40-50 beef ham/cheese burgers and uncooked brauts from lunch time + a couple of gallons of potato salad.
some where in there we need to eat a 5lb. ham liway has been slow cooking all day + now doing a final marenade sauce ( slow heat on grill for sandwichs or what ever ) + sevral types of snack stuff like cheese + crackers to chex mix.
sure hope we eat everything up ,,, don't want to waste anything.
as in years past ,,,, folks have brought in some wonderful stuff + we kinda all pooled together - GREAT times !
oh yeah,,, also from past experince ,,,, saturday night is pig out night ,,, and i'll have a couple of deep fryed turkeys cooking and i'm sure there will be alot of grills ablaze !
no drinks furnished but i'll have about 300 plates + plastic service ware and sevral rolls of paper towels ( camper napkins - lol ) so bring your own drink and what ever you drink it out of.
see you soon folks ,,,, john
That is what John brought for TF04 (I quoted from another thread) maybe we should try that but in smaller amounts?
thehickfarmer
06-21-2004, 03:49 PM
that sounds good! but one thing i would like to add. this is actually just comon sence but please don't bring any alcohol related drinks ! but eric i think what you posted works well also but like you said. in smaller amounts. one thing that we weill have a problem with is who will do the cooking
how much is entry fee and could you post the directions from the 401.
I'll probably go if i do I'll bring my 185 and my 200. Maybe my quad too. What goes on there and why isnt it advertised on the gopherdunes web site under 2004 events.
Is it just a big sand track? Are people bringing stuff to sell?

It isn't on their web site because I guess I never asked them to add it. The only plans that I have with them is I called and asked if a group of less then 30 could come and bring our trikes for a few days and have a "TrikeFest". I explained that we have all met on this site and wanted to meet up for some riding and good times in the end of August. The said that that was no problem and were more then happy to accommodate us as long as we read the rules and obey them.
That was months ago now, and was the only conversation that I have had with them. I want to get down there and ride for a day with my son soon, and talk with them some more but haven't had time yet.

I think once you have an event like this and, see how things go the word will get out and more people might show up for the next one. Ied like to make it for this one but. things are ify right now with work and school and what not. Hopefully by this time next year things will be setteled down just in time for the next one if all goes well.

07-12-2004, 06:43 PM
so whats the head count for this event so far any way?
erussell
07-12-2004, 07:51 PM
How be anyone that wants to sign up for this can email me at
eric@allterraincycles.ca
So we can have a close head count for food and other stuff. Don't worry if at the last minute you can make it and you haven't signed up, you will still be very welcome.
