that engine isnt just stripped, thats polish, if you wana do your engine, get ready for ALOT of work, first you get some paint stripper (Zip Strip is good stuff) and then just brush it all over where you wanna strip, let it sit for awhile and it will bubble up, after about 15 minutes get a wire brush and a putty knife, and just start scraping and brushing the paint off, it may require another coat of the paint stripper to get it all off, once you get the paint off, get some fine sandpaper, and go to work., finish it off with some polish and a scotch brite pad.

Wouldn't sandblasting eat up the aluminum? Or are you talking about plastic blasting?

Sand blasting won't eat up the aluminum, but it will leave a grainy finish. Bead blasting is pobably what you want as it will leave more of a satin finish.

Yeah, thats what I was talking about. The little pits sandblasting leaves.

ok and i can use bead's in a sand blasting gun?
blazer's motor is exactly what i want.. so IF i did sand blast it and it left the pores could i go over it with a REALLY fine grit sand paper?

The grainy finish sands/polishes out very easily. You can use beads in a sand blaster. I am not sure where the most common place to get the sand would be. My first thought would be to try Lowes or Home Depot. As I don't know where you are from I can't suggest anything loacally. It seems to me that Sears sold it by the 5 gallon bucket at one point in their Tool catalog. I'll think about it some more and if I come up with something I'll post it on here.
The other sand is silica sand for pool filters.backing soda is water soluble very safe and easy cleanup. The way those other bike motors look is from the owners cleaning the crap out of there stuff.I am a filthy bud dobber i use paint.I still wash it but I can cheat a little bit and my motor wont look like s#!t. It is very good to get all of those old paint layers off of your air cooled motor no mater what you decide to do.paint strip is awsome like that other dude said.then sand blast after. :)

how much does this sand costs? i went rideing yester day and my motor started to smoke so looks liek a new topend cam chain and clutch plates here soon. i figured i would get a whole gasket set and take the covers off and sand blast them seperate and then the top end parts seperate to. but im ot shure on how im goign to do the cases.

YOu can get a 50 lbs. bag of sand for $20. If you have a recirculating cabinet, the sand doesn't go bad and pretty much lasts forever.
