yes, these tecates are beasts, i have an 85 myself and love the thing...just remember to crack open the stator cover every now and then to make sure you dont have any water in it or youll shoot your stator out (happened to me 2 times, now i open it after every ride where theres water) and the hard starting is because of low compression, maybe blown crank seal(s) or your bore is shot or your piston/rings are bad...get that problem fixed and ittl start 1st or 2nd kick and run like a champ

the 200x does like 56 tops i can say,i sold my 200x 2 days after i went riding with a pack of 85 tecates for the money for my tecate! :Bounce :TrikesOwn
and the money cost wont be as much as what you will spend if you bring it to a shop cus it is alot of labor to take an engine apart...probrably no more than like 70 bucks for parts depending on what it is

me thinks you are barking up the wrong tree....if you can jump start it and it runs fine, you don't need a coil or a stater. why does everyone always say they need a coil? coils rarely fail, and the stator gets ruined by the flywheel. here is the PROPER wayto diagnos thes problems
1 buy a new plug b8es or br8es
2 spray starting fluid in the airbox..if it starts you don't have electrial issuses
3 assumin it does start breifly you now know that your problem can be 3 things:a: compression, check the compression to see if it is over 150psi. this more than likely your problemn
b:fuel system, try a known good carb and see if it runs or clean and check yours carefully
c: check to see if your reeds are no good, if the have a gap between the cage abd tip over say a match book flap thickness...they are worn out
I suggest you no waste your money guessing(unless you like spending $)

yea i agree but eh the only way i can find out whats wrong with it is if i take it to a shop , i asked the guy if it starts hard and he said its hard to kick over , so it cant have low compresion , idk if it has airleaks but he said he gets weak spark sum times , good spark sometimes , and no spark sometimes , he suggested it may need a coil not me

hold on, tecates are top end monsters, atleast mine was. my atc 330r, I really have to hold on, it tries to throw you off the bike, and I weight 185 lbs. When I ride my 200x it feels like a scooter.
