nothing at all big, the only thing i can think of is the rear shock linkage wich is interchangable with both years, there may be a few tiny little things, but nothing major at all, everything will swap with each year.

The 6th digit from the end of the VIN on a 1983 is a 2 and a 3 on a 1984. The shock linkage is different like 85ATC250r said and some factory items like the spark plug are different. Everything else is the same.

Actually the motors are different. Honda revised the porting and modified the chamber to give the '84 pinger 7.3:1 compression from 6.7:1 on the '82/'83 motor and 6.6:1 on the '81. They switched from a recomended Std. BR8ES to a Champion QN2C. Some of the dimensions between the two differed as followed: *Overall length - '83 72.4", '84 73.0" *Overall width - '83 42.3", '84 43.1" *Overall height - '83 42.3", '84 42.9" *Wheelbase - '83 49.6", '84 50.2" *Seat height - '83 28.9", '84 29.1" *Footpeg height - '83 12.2", '84 12.6".

Then can someone tell Howdy so he can redo the specifications on the specification pages. It says that the 83 and 84 are both 6.6:1 compression ratio.

The "specs" vary from Honda but I own a 1983 and a 1984 and if you measure from the same point on both I can't find a change. Maybe right out of the factory the 1984 ride height was set 0.6 " higher but they are the same dementions. As for the compession changes ever Honda veries in the same year. I have 2 1983 brochures and one says 7.3 and the other 6.7. Maybe they changed mid year I don't know.
