Would anybody be interested in some schedualed competitions.? A lot of us end up running some drags, and spend some time on one of the tracks, but if others are interested I could setup a times and organize it a little bit so we would know to all show up at the same time. The small MX track isnt used all that much and is true MX in nature, more about rider than bike, so Im sure we could comandeer it for a short time. Its all for fun, so I can group people in similar classes from performance 2 stroke down to non suspension models (Now THAT would be fun!) depending on how many are interested. Persoanlly nId like to run no suspension agianst the kids on minis. I think Hunter and TimJr would probably kill us. If youre interested let me know and Ill throw something together and set a time. Ill also need a couple volunteer flaggers and a fill in starter so I can play too.
We can do the same thing on the drag strip. We can set a time, and we'll all show up, though we will probably have to share that one since it gets a lot more use.

What a great idea! I can see me going home in a body cast already........ :(
That sounds like a good idea. Im willing to risk life and limb on my old dinosaur free air, technolgically challenged 21 year old trike.

Tim,
What about the gncc race on the 6th?can we stick around and run that on the trikes?
They wouldnt let us run their organized MX last year on trikes, but if this is a GNCC, Id be almost certain they will not let us run. On top of that, besides paying the race entry fee, youd have to put up money for the AMA membership, and the district sanction card. Its a lot of money to put up for just one race, unless youre going to run a series.
Dont worry about how well you do! There is much more honor in giving it a try and finishing poorly than sitting on the sidelines talking garbage! Ill pick the last place racer over the armchair racer any day! Its all in fun, and not to "prove" anything but if youve never tried an MX before, I guarentee youll leave with a whole new perspective and and healthy respect for it.

According to what Ive read in the "This vs That" Forum, all the guys with 2 stroke 250's should be lining up to teach you and your Z400 a lesson on that MX track, since trikes always perform better. I concede in advance that you will cream me, since I obviously never learned to ride one in 15 years of trike riding, as well as I learned to ride a quad in 4 years, but maybe someone will step in with more skills than me. Besides, from everything else Ive read on "This vs That" about how slow TriZ's are, Im sure one of those "R" or Tecates guys can better beat you up on the track. ;)
I know I said I wasnt out to prove anything but if you wish, the top 3 overall trikers can run against Nate to prove the superiority of trikes under all conditions!
By the way, TimJr wants to run his Raptor80 against the small unsuspended trikes, and his E-ton 90 against some 200X's.

well, Sr., I only hope someone with a decently set up 250R is willing to let someone else "borrow" it for such a contest. I personally believe that quads will always turn faster lap times, and Nate is pretty close to as perfect a rider as ive ever had the pleasure to watch. I dont think anyone could beat him on a wheeler, but then again, how would I know. I do know that I am NOT loaning my 250R out to anyone who has something to prove! That equation equals "one beat trike and another rebuild over next winter" LOL I only have mabey 2 hours on it since its completion too! Im not afraid of "beating" on it, my definition of "beating" is far less than others. Cant wait to get there!!!!!! Just picked up 2 30 packs of Genny cream ale for swinehart and im ready to get going!

While you guys are trying to see who can beat who on the strip; I will be riding out in the woods searching for new challenges. 18HP on a drag strip is not good.

Your Z was FAST YTZ250#1!
I also seen a slightly modded Blaster (Jim's) beat a piped banshee on the drag strip with my own eyes! Talk about crazy!
I liked the MX race the most, I really enjoyed that alot. Got to do it again next year!

I'm not 1 to brag or boast but I'd have to say,,pound for pound, displacement for displacement, I had one of the fastest machines(blaster) at the drag strip.Even though I did lose a few and had a few bad starts I grabbed the holeshot just about every time. Steve from NY's 86Z beat me and I lost to an air cooled R a few times.MIK6's tecate was leaking anti freeze so I didnt get to run against it.Keep in mind for next year that a regulation ATV drag is 300'. Haspin drag strip is way more then that.
The MX races took me by surprise.Right before the races I didnt feel much like racing at all, mmmm hungover tired and about 90 degrees.Trikeaholic was a cool dude and offered me his 350X.I was hesitant at first but then said OK.
Tim sr wanted to run against me on his tri-z so he let me race the 2 stroke class as well. 4 MX moto's was not kind to my old worn out bones.
350x class(moto1) 1st place (moto2) 1st place
2 stroke class(moto1) 1st place (moto2) 1st place
The first race someone(forgot his name)beat me to the turn and I knew he was goin wayy to fast to make the turn.He shot up over the berm and was outta there.I looked back as I made the turn and saw some 350x's jockeying for position,I hit the gas and never looked back.On the finish line,I did a nacnac as I rollled over the finish line hill(not a jump). When I stopped my body was hurtin and I had forearms like popeye.
The first 2 stroke race,I ended up behind Virgil(3wheelsforever) on his tecate. Its unbelievable how fast Virgil has gotten since TF03.He was leaving me behind on the straights, but I caught back up in the turns. In one turn he hit nuetral and I passed him, only to be passed again by him on the next straight. Then in the back section of the track he got a bit squirrely and dam near flipped out bad.I slowed down to make sure I wouldnt ram him.He gained control as he went off the track and I passed again and was able to hold the lead until the checkered flag; well,it was the closest thing to a checkered flag we could find.lol
The 3rd race I dont remember too much of b/c my body was numb and I was on autopilot.I think I got the holeshot and led to the end.
The 2nd 250 race had to be restarted b/c Hunter was still brokedown on the coarse w/ his 60cc LEM quad from the lil guy race. Before the restart Billy(hondaATC) had the lead and I was right behind him.On the restart,I had 1st place outta the first turn and Tim Sr. wasnt too far behind me.He chased me the entire time.A few times I saw his front tire come up next to me.I made a few mistakes in the turns and thought he was goin by me for sure.On the last lap I could barely hang on to the bars.Over the finish line I did a major wheelie w/crossup and one handed fist in the air, saying to self "H E LL YEAH,I just won em' all!! I think Cody(howdys son) made $10 off his mom from me winning all four races. Never in a 100 yrs did I think I would win them all.
After I stopped I had all I could do to stand I was so tired; So what did I do,Went back to camp and drank more beer, lol. I can honestly say that I was too beat up to ride the woods anymore after the mx races.
Congrats to all who raced mx and drag raced.
I would like to hear other stories from the guys who raced mx; easy? tough? was it fun?
I'm wondering if Trikeaholic will let me defend my undefeated streak on the 350X again?

That was the first time I'd ever been on an MX track with a trike (Not including THursday evening when I got there and did about 6 laps). That race was the coolest part to me by far. I was tired but I would have kept racing the whole day. It was just cool as trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro being right behind someone or having someone right behind you, and trying to fight them off. Definetly awesome.

Its addicting and addrenalin pumping! I gotta say, for all the time Ive spent on MX tracks, this was eye opening for me too! Im used to being the only trike, and looking for the right hole to pass the quad in front of me. You guys dont take the same lines as the quads, and never seemed to take the line I expected you to! In that respect it was all new to me too. Im sure everyone will get lots of practice between now and next year. Jim was looking a little tired and starting to get a little sloppy on that last lap! He couldnt tell I was doing the same behind him! Remember Jim, I rode 4 motos too, but mine were back to back and two were on no-suspension machines, and Im an old guy! I cant wait to do it again next year. Ive never been so evenly matched, and it was a privilege to lose to you! Something is terrribly wrong with this whole picture though. We've got Tri-Z Jim aka Yamaha Jim running a 350X, and we've got HondaATC running a Tri-Z! Im beginning to think you guys work together with a psychological strategy.

LMFAO!! I never really thought about this but your 100% correct. I was very suprized to have Yamaha Jim come up to me after the races and ask if I had a 350x for sale. This totally blew me out of the water. Maybe Jim is finally coming around to Honda's. It don't get any better than that. lol
