i was over at a friends house (who also has an es) his starts before it turns over twise no matter the temp, mine takes several minutes of trying, playing with the choke, and idal adjutment knob (it wont start unless you turn the idal up). this only happens when its cold and its gotta be something with jetting i think. so what jet do i change, slow, main, or just move the clip on the (neddle?) jet? also my choke is RELLY screwed up.when its summer i always turn on the choke, turn it over a few times, turn the choke off, then it starts right away. if you try to turn the choke on when its running (to help when its cold and just warming up) it just dies and if you try to start it with the choke on it wont. Also i just cleaned the carb this summer (diped it overnight, put all new jets in (moose carb kit) and a new float. this was done because it had sat for 4-5 years. like i said i think its hust jetting but if you think something else could cause it plese let me know. i talked to the original owner and he said he always parked it in the winter because it wouldnt start.

My 85 250SX had a cold start problem also. Would not stary under 35 degrees starts 3 0r four engine cycles now. There is a service bulletin at the dealer for a kit to remedy it. Basically it's a hose kit with t's to connect all the vent hoses and a starter jet which I'm sure is more of the culprit. Check your dealer for Service Bulletins he's lying if he says there aren't any. The kit was 50$ Good luck!
