that is the real magilla! real 200r 's have a cylinder that looks like the cr125 on 250r cases, this would be the early 85 one btw...the later ones look like 125 motors does it have a serial # on it? look at the cases and the frame and that will tell you

I think I should clarify a bit before everyone gets all in a dither.

This is a privateer 200R from a 250R engine kit. It has been de-stroked to equal out to the current time AMA 200 class limit. Otherwise, it is a 3rd generation 250R.

It is still a VERY cool vintage racer though.

Here is a description of what is in the picture sets..

SET 1.... A run down beat down 1987 ATC 250SX.....they do exist..

SET2.... My 250R and my new 2004 Chevy (my other Chevy was burned at the same place) and the rear of the 200R.

SET3.... The 200R, the 200X race bike, and old race tires.. Hoosiers, Ohtsu H-Tracks, and custom grooved Goodyears. notice how the tires on the right are grooved on an angle, they are flattrack tires. When the bike is sideways the tire grooves are straight. Pretty cool huh!

Set 4.... Pictures of the 200R motor. See how the cylinder is cut shorter. They had to make longer top motor mounts.. And see the wing on the stator cover to keep the shifter from getting bent under.

SET 5.... Oh Yea..a 200R.. Left side and Right side. With the Flattrack tank kit and a Honda 200R seat cover I have to learn more about that seat cover.. It is a Honda item. The bike has a custom made Bills pipe and a Paul Turner Pipe for a 200cc motor. Not a standard 250cc pipe......

As far as the seat cover...thats how it is I guess. It is not an altered 250 seat I can assure you. The bikes will run but need some work and the 200R needs the carb. this is how I found them dirty from years of sitting. They will look new one day though.

Great Find Mike!

I have a set of old Hoosier Tri-Tracs. Very bad cracking all over them.
The Hoosier I want it is the Tri-Trac front. It has straight grooves. Can you still get them?

That 250R seat cover is a stock Honda cover, but I would bet that someone carefully removed the middle of the "5" with some kind of vinyl safe paint or ink remover. It was probably who ever built the engine as part of the package.

I think someone might could rescue that 250SX if they got it cheap to start with.

I like the 200X too. Do you have anymore info on it?

There was a Selvy 200R on ebay a couple years back. It ended up being a 3 hour drive away from me. I didn't have the money to buy at that time so I couldn't justify a 3 hour drive just to go ook at it and not load it up. I emailed the guy back and forth a few times. He was an old racer from the 80's and had a CR125 conversion trike. He was supposed to get pics for me but never did. I offered at the time to trade my Tri-Z for the 200R since it's got allot of old racer parts on it. He said he was getting out of the trike business after all these years and didn't want anymore trikes, just cash!

That fin on the flywheel cover is interesting! Can you tell if it was welded on or was it cast that way?

Mike Fort Laud

JEB.....I have studied the seat on this bike very close. There is no middle of a 5 to remove. On my 250R the bottom of the 5 is angled and the top left of the 5 is squared. On the 200 both the top and bottom of the 0 is angled. Plus the top half of the 0 is bigger than a top half of the 5. It cannot be an altered 250R seat. The whole 200R was done at the same time. Not to say I could not take a blue seat cover and have is silkscreened to say whatever I wanted. to me it looks like it came from a factory of some kind. And as far as the fin on the stator cover. I cannot see any trace of a weld mark or weld pitting. It also looks like a factory part. If it was welded it is a VERY clean job.

That's awesome. And Jared them style Tri-tracks are discontinued from hoosier. I have a set, I just need some 10 inch rims to put them on! :(

Back when I was looking for my 250R back in the late 80's, I ran across a 200R racer at a dealership. I didn't want something that had been highly modified and raced (on the Grand Nat'l circuit) so I didn't even consider it. Boy, what that would be worth now!

I guarantee you there are more old 200r racers around sitting in sheds, barns, garages. Just gotta find all of them, it would be interesting to see a racing tecate. A freind of mine around 85 or 86 was in a kawaski dealership and they had a tecate racer for sale, speaking of tecates anybody know if Jimmy White still has his trikes? Anybody know where he is now?

I'm pretty sure he's not dead. One of those ATV web site had a write up about a legends race a couple years back and he was there.

I believe he still has an 86 KXT racing 3-wheeler. I think Curtis has talked to him. and there was an article in a mid or late 90's dirtwheels that he was riding his old 86 at some dunes.

Yeah, you never see 200cc KXTs come up for sale. There's been several Honda 200Rs show up in recent past. I always figured there were more KXT 200s out there because the 200 conversion was easier to do on Kawasaki than a Honda. :TrikesOwn

I have spoken to the Kawasaki Legend #31 Jimmy White. He is most definately still alive. He works in the industry for one of the ATV tire manufacturers. Believe it or not he is the only one that I talked to among seven different Kawasaki Factory or factory suported riders from the 80's that still has his Tecate. Approx 2-3 years ago his Factory 86 Tecate was stolen and recovered with the motor seized and basically all torn up. Ron Baker at PEP suspension was rebuilding it for Jimmy at that time.

Curtis.
