I'm putting a 84 250r front end on my 86 200x and not sure what I'm gonna do with the rear shock(if works ever gets back to my shop about the shock) I already have forks, hub, bolt, bottom tripple, I just bought a 84 caliper, top tripple and bid on a 84 tire and rim. The steering stop in in the center, so I'm gonna have to grind that off and weld stops in on the 86 200x's locatation, any advice anybody could give me about this to make things easier?

you cant do it the r's have tapered bearings and the 200x doesnt.

I don't think the 84 R's tree had tapered bearings, I thought they changed to them in either 85 or 86?

I'm looking at the bottom bearing on the 84 tree and it looks like a normal bearing,it looks just like the on my 86 tecate trees, except a smaller diameter.

It wouldn't be a direct bolt in for sure but you could probably make it happen. As vartia previously stated the bearings arent the same. Honda 110's came with ball bearings but now the aftermarket replacment is a tapered bearing. You will have to do a little resarch if you want to do it. You really need a spec sheet on the neck bearings for each bike and then you can get a bearing to work. When you buy new bearings they come with new races so it shouldn't be to hard to come up with somthing if you can get exact dimensions and a parts house willing to do a little research for you also. You will have to get bearing that has the correct O.D. to fit your 200x neck and the correct I.D. to fit the shaft on the 250r forks. Good luck!

would a 350x front end be easier to put on? I didn't have to buy most of the parts for it, so thats why I'm gonna try it, but if the 350x are direct bolt-ons I'll spend the money and buy a 350x front end.

If you have a catologe you could try crossing the part numbers on the bearings. If they are the same it shouldn't be much trouble to swap.

I just crossed them in my book and none of them are a direct match. This doesn't mean the wont swap though. It may just mean they are a differnet style.

83-86 250R 221-02-1Z
85 350X 221-02-9J

These are ALL BALLS BEARINGS part numbers.

thanks alot, the reason I'm doing it with the 84 front end is because I have most of it and the caliper and top tripple cost me $40, so when shipping is done $50, and then gotta buy a wheel about $20. If it doesn't work I always could sell the whole front end and get most of my money back. How did the racers of the 80's use 83-84r front ends on their 200x's I know it was a common swap, most of them were 83-85 so maybe something is different with them to make it easier.
