Lately, this is the only place I ride anymore. This is Dumont Dunes, which is just outside of Baker, CA. The pics are from my latest trip out there in July, 04. It was a tad bit warm there. It never got below 90 degrees & was 114 in the shade. Needless to say, there weren't too many other people there, so the dunes were absolutely flawless. We did most of our riding during the early morning hours, and then just before sunset.

I think about that from time to time. Not about selling it, rather about not selling it. None of the new machines these days excite me much. Does that mean I'll still be riding my R when I'm 65?

Here is a pic of my four year old son last year @ Dumont Dunes. He is riding his 83 70. We love that place. Not as crowded as Glamis, and more riding area than Pismo.

Ok, the first two pix are 15 mins. north of El Paso Tx. The roads are mostly used by the gas or power companies. The brown spot in the middle is a big hole that every one goes to shoot and it fills up with garbage and junk faster than water from a tropical storm. The rest are in Ft. Hancock Tx. about 15 miles from the nearest road. The camera didn't quite capture the moment in the 'a view from up there' shot . It looked a lot better in person. My other camera ran out of bateries half way up there. The gates....maybe in use many years ago but now, those keep out signs are pretty meaningless since most of the traces of roads are now washed away or overgrown with prickly things. Hopefully I can get this carb fixed so I can go back there this next week and ride some more. I may add another picture of the rest of the desert if I can find one. I think I took some towards the west but you can't see the town anyways. Too far away. :D

The first pic is looking west same as the from up there shot with cliffs of about 40 ft.

The second one is looking south toward the wood gate which is at the end of the trail at the right side of the fence about 1/2 mi. away.

Do you have some pictures of your riding place? What do you have? The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence (unless you ride where I go--see picture) Anyways, its now 4:23 here and I didn't go riding today afterall. Gonna try and fix my new computer that bought the farm on friday after lightning hit the pole outside my backyard and fried it and the cable modem. Right now, I'm using my old vintage '97 233 mhz thats not plug and play and it sure is agravating to make work with the new cable modem but it works. :beer

Does anyone know if all these pictures cost this place money in bandwidth if they are stored on one's own server space or are they stored here?

no sry i dont really take pics..im too interested on riding..lol...and i dont ever have a camera with me cause knowing my luck itll break..i got 5 acres behind my house thats all woods and a little creek..then theres about 300 over in cardonia thats nothin but trails mud hills and water...and behind my uncles house theres about 20 that i can ride on but i usually only go for 5 cvause theres a swamp and a big creek so theres plenty of play time..no dunes tho..which is better cause i have no air box yet on the 185

Whats with all of the baren desert? Where I ride its a mix of everything. All of my riding is centered around one lake, my Grandpa and my uncle both own farms right beside the lake so I don't have to tresspass to get to all the sweet mudding spots. There are trails(all around the lake, and mostly mud all year round) some trails are on someone else's property but they leave the gate open because they know we ride in there all the time(thick bush with hills, long flat strait-aways, many many mud holes(by holes I mean small ponds). There is probably 10 miles or so of trails in there. There is also long dirt roads just for the speed thrill, and alot more. The best part about it is that it is a local people only area, so there aren't that many people to come around and ride on your best trail and put holes in the fences(which is a good thing, so they leave that area open).

Whats with all of the baren desert?

I live in the desert. I would have more pics of the other various, higher desert, but I'm tired of constantly resizing pics. All the higher elevations in AZ require permits and other garbage that I'm not willing to give into.

The area I ride is full of trails, washes and wide open spots that are perfect for all types of atv's and riding skills. Plus there are so many other areas surrounding Phoenix, you could ride every weekend and never get bored. Desert riding kicks trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro.

Theres more than just desert 'round here its just that the area that is closer to town and has dunes- 'red sands' (now why would they call it that?) is also usually full of people which really cuts down on the fun factor. As you can see in my pix there are absolutely NO people in my pictures as far as the eye can see. That means I can do whatever I please and don't have to worry about landing on some little kid with training wheels. Hell, I can ride around NAKED if I want to -if- the sun wasn't so hot.

Please keep your clothes on 3 wheelin geezer. Geez, now look what you've done. Now I've got this nasty image, of an old saggy a$$ed guy riding around butt naked on a 3 wheeler, burned into my memory. Just kidding. I guess there's worse things to see in this world.

I said IF I wanted to. Not that I do. Besides no one goes there other than another ol geezer that likes to run up that mountain just for kicks and thats not very often. ( I think he's nuttier than me.) Ya ever seen one of those Texas sized fly swatters that doubles as a snow shovel in the winter? Well, thats what I need to kill all of the flies and other assorted critters trying to eat me alive. Dammit! I ain't dead yet!! Its bad enough when I have clothes on as it is besides not to mention the seat gets pretty hot in the day. OUCH!! Oh, hey you forgot to add 'hairy' to that description. Myeh-heh-heh-heh. You know what is good medicine for something like that? Try some good ol' moonshine and you'll feel right as rain, forget the ol saggy fart and start to see a beautiful maiden with long flowing blonde hair waiting for you at the end of the sunbeam. Works for me. Then I wake up all sick the next day. :beer

Here, this might give you an idea of what the geezer might look like WITH clothes (not the pink dress).
