Is it possible to rebuild an electric starter and have it run in reverse?
I just got done cleaning and installing a couple of new brushes in my street bikes starter. Now it seems to be spinning in the wrong direction. The battery is connected correctly, so I don't think thats the problem.

Any ideas?

To make sure its spinning in the wrong direction... The flywheel has to turn clockwise so the starter turns counterclockwise unless there is another gear in the way (like not directly touching the flywheel)

I don't know much about electric motors but I do know if you have the wires connected backwards they will spin the wrong way.

Make sure the end caps and housing are lined up correctly. They usually have a little mark on the endcaps and some lines on the side of the starter housing. I'm not sure if having the endcap with the brushes 180 out will cause this, but it's worth a shot.

if it IS running backwards, pull the wires and hook em up to it the other way
