can i put any type of after market spring in my forks to give them more travle? waht about useing the insides of some 85 86 250r forks?

You use the dampening rods out of 83-84 250r frks and it gives you about 1" more travel and better dampening. Mr. ATC did a post detailing how to do it over on .org so search there. I did it to my forks and it made a big difference.

Get on www.Denniskirk.com and do a search of your year 350X forks. You should come up with Progressive fork springs that are better than the stockers.

I got Progressive Fork Springs in my "Showgirl" 350X. Very nice setup! Bikebandit.com is having a sale on them right now... 20% off. Price is $61 and change plus tax and shipping.
I got mine from Dennis Kirk last year, and think they were ~$80 if I recall.

Yeah I got mine this moring. 80 bucks also, I like the fact that they are designed to be used without air in the forks...they are super stiff.

Did you get them from Bike Bandit? All the HONDA ones were $61 and change...
