Just curious, I keep hearing people talk about the Devils Slide at Pismo,
I understand that it is closed now, but what and where is it?
& why did they close it?

Well,,,,I've been up Devils slide.....Damn near 20 yrs ago....Huge Hill,,,Id say at least 400 to 500 ft at a very good angle...If you have been down the beach recently or in the past 20 yrs or so you will notice it is fenced off...If you could keep going about another 2 or 3 miles it is there...Cant miss it,,If I remember right it is at a dead end on the beach...They closed that section of the beach because of the Vegetation and Wild Life...Just like they closed off half of the dunes around there...Ever Been to Pismo???

wow it sounds cool, I first went to Pismo in 2001, so I am kind of a newcomer
but I have been several times a year since,... I will be out there this weekend in fact! (got reservations, I hear its crowded)
It's too bad about the restricted riding there, it is one of the few remaining places in central/southern Ca that you can still drive on the
beach, I hope we can keep it open!
Thanks for the info!, maybee Ill see you in the Dunes.

Here's a good site about the history of pismo. (http://www.bob2000.com/pismo.htm) Just go to the fence and look south and you should see it, kinda close to the ocean.

Here's a pic of devils slide.

Nice hill! I will be camping close to the end of the beach If the fog lifts I will
try to get a look at it. wish it was still open! the "comp hill" at pismo leaves
a lot to be desired.
thanks for the link! I am printing that site to share with my group this weekend, lot of cool old info there & links to the orginizations trying to protect our riding privleges

My dad talks about "the good ol days" when he would take his homemade beach buggy back there. From what ive heard that hill was taller and steeper than anyother sand hill in the Us, bigger than dumont, glamis, anything.

I went up it with an 82 or 83 Honda 200...Took Several try's to make it.Following Dune Buggies isn't easy..Some of the Dune Buggies had a hard time...Too bad they didn't take a shot from the Top...Gives ya a better perspective...
