who has a dual purpose steet and trailbike?what do you think of it and what kind do you have?the reason I ask this is because I am looking into buying a used street and trailbike and I am wondering if anyone has one for sale or even one that is a parts bike that could be built up or something like that...thanks

Your best bet would be a bike in the Honda "XR" Family. They make a street legal kit for all of the "XR" bikes which is a very nice setup. The most popular version of bike would be the "XR 400r" .

I love my XR250r.. Only wish it were street legal. The thing will go up just about anything I have nutz to try and climb.

This is me and my XR back in 03'

www.thumpertalk.com is a good place to ask for advice. They are the #1 site when it comes to dual sporting

i'd go with a DRZ400 water cooled with comparable suspension to the XR but you can get it as the S model that comes as a dual sport instead of having to convert it and its got E start.

i had an 87 sp250 back in high school. it was a blast. i could jump on the trails whenever. great gas mileage the only thing that sucks if you get a dot tire that is worth a crap on the trails you will be replacing it very often. way too soft

I would look at a kdx200 or 220 you can get kits to make them street legal. they are fun bikes. my kdx200 has lots of torque. and it doesnt weigh that much.

i had an 84 yamaha XT125 and i must say that was the worst bike i've ever been on. the motor was so underpowered it blew my mind that somebody would actually drive it on the street. it must have been kinda of rare, because i have never seen or heard of an XT125 before or since, and i've looked on the internet for shits and giggles. i traded it for a paintball gun, and looking back, i probably would have sold it for $25 if i had the chance. we also had an XT 250, and that was alot better. never drove it on the street, but it was a great trail bike.

LOL I had 2 SP125s in highschool. My friend had the SP250. They were cool bikes for the day.

As far as the new XRs you don't have to "convert" anything. Most dealers take care of that for you.

The xr650L comes street legal right from honda if I'm not mistaken.
