A friend of mine just picked up a 93' ke 100 yesterday. I hasn't been run in 2+ years. It is in good shape. The tank was acid and primed, and ii has compression and spark. I need to know what we need to do to get it up and running. I have already started a list...

New chain(didn't come with one)
New fuel line
Oil
Fuel

Are there any things I am missing? Please add to my list. :beer

P.S. The carberation system on these bikes is amazing. It is inside the motor. The clutch is pretty cool too.

It will need a carb cleaning..it will need to be dipped in special acidic stuff that eats away all the old gas. New spark plugs are also a good idea for best results. New or atleast clean the airfilter. Make sure the tires arnt cracked and ready to pop because of being left for so long. Just my advice.

clean the carb. what has always worked best for me is autozone carb cleaner, the 99 cent stuff. dont use chemtool type dip, first off it does not clean it that well and if you missed and oring or something it will damage it. if your floats are weak it will eat right through them. disassemble and clean. drain gas from tank, if it has alot of gum let me know i will give you my own recipe (works wonders). change plug and look at the oil. if it looks kinda clean keep it in there for the first start up. when it cranks then change the oil. changing it first can be very bad. but if the oil has alot of trash or water go ahead and change it.

Ok, he brought the bike over last night, and I put a new fuel line and fuel filter on, changed the oil (it was brown sludge), clean the air filter. The tank was acid dipped and cleaned by the previous owner, and had no fuel in it.He changed the plug too. I also gassed her up. Our problem now is we can't get it to spark. It sparked the other night. Its probably something simple. The turn signals and brake light works. The horn too. :) I will call my Kawi dealer to see what they recommened checking on the ignition system. Thanx

Well, the bike is out of my hands now. My friend came and picked it up yesterday. I completly went over the electrical, and the only thing I didn't do was clean the points. The reason I didn't was the lack of a gear puller. Anyway, they have one and they are going to clean the points today. We should be riding it by this weekend. :D Thanks for the help.
