Did you modify the Z bottom end, or just drop a YZ motor in?

They run pretty good being powervalved. Its to bad Yamaha didnt make them that way from the factory. It sure makes a huge difference in power.

neil ,i bought the motor from xc racer160,he worked at east coast atv,he got a 83 yz top end and he said he modded the clutch cover, but i cant tell,,looks factory, and no oil leaks!! everything is there, stator has the lighting side, and the bore is 68.50 mm.,most parts have the 38w on them, the top end has the 24y numbers, the cases serial # is even 38w series,id love to know how made the cnc billet intake, and why such a big carb,(40mm)

Im pretty sure stock carbs on them were 38mm, so 40 isnt a huge jump really (I could be way off, I was looking at the 87 specs). Thats cool about the stator having the lighting side,,. I wish my YZ motor had it.
so what kinda pipe ya gonna run?

yes tri-z has 32mm,yz has 38mm,this motor has a 40mm carb,i think the stator is a tri-z ,looks just like the ones i sell, and in my other two bikes, and since this is going in the drag bike i will be using a jemco drag outframe like this, until it comes is(has to be made),ill use a spare dg setup, that is tri-shee tri-z not mine!
