I just changed the top engine cover,do i have to reset the valve clearence.I tried to start it ,it would not stay started ,it back fires when choked,it idles for 10 sec. i give it gas it dies.(i took the carb. apart cleaned it put it back together still the same)Is the carb shot.I am open to any help,thanks svo58

ehh,,, what kind of bike??, do you mean the head? from what you said sounds like the timing is off.

it's a 84 honda big red 200es,i think it's the valve cover(the very top of motor with the acorn nuts)I never herd the engine run.

check your valve clearance....i believe it should be .003 for both the intake and exhaust....also why you have it down, make sure the timing is correct.

if the motor don't start how do you check timing,any hints or tricks to try to get started,thanks ,svo58

Geat a manual for your Trike. I dont mess around much untill I have a manual. Then you will know everything. :beer
