Ok so I found a way to remove it sort of by remocing what I would descride as a retention cap and twisting the forks apart. however this will work as the tire is flat.
Once I get my new tire mounted on the rim I cannot see how this method will work. what am I doing wrong? should I be removing the whole fork when I remove the rim?
any tricks will help me as I need to get this rim off today after work since the tire will be in tommorrow.

You take the brake cable loose. Then you remove the retention cap you speak of with the 4 small nuts on it loose. However. I like to loosen the nuts up pretty good and then I take a socket wrench and put it on the end of the axle on that same side. The end of the front axle looks like a big nut on that side. The other side is threaded. Crank it around a few times and make sure its loose. Than take the Cap with the 4 nuts on it off. Then you can just pull the axle forward to clear the right fork a bit and finish unbolting it from the left fork. Its pretty easy. It goes back on pretty easy too. Same way. Be sure not to cross thread the end of the axle into to left fork. You will regret it if you do. When going back set the tire and wheel up there and get the axle threads started into the left fork then just push the axle back against the right forks groove for the axle put the cap back on, and the nuts. Loose. Then tighten the axle down into the left fork. When its tight, tighten the 4 small nuts on the cap down. Be SURE not to over tighten those 4 small nuts. It is pretty easy to over tighten them, and if you do, the studs will break off. Ive done it. Not fun. I actually did 2 back to back. Its very easy to break them. Hope this helps. Oh yeah make sure the brake drum lines up with the left fork properly when yo stick it back on.
