View Full Version : need help with little 4 wheeler
bought a little 4 wheeler at a yard sale. it is a midwest , bobcat 50. it is blue and white if that helps in identifying it. the guy talked a good talk but pulled the wool over my eyes pretty well. i need to test the magneto but am not sure how to do so. there was a fried wire (that went to the start button ) and now i have to figure out why there is no spark. any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about your brand but I know that many of the youth quads are the same powertrain with different plastic on them. Hopefully that is how yours is. My thought is take it to a shop and see if they can idenitfy it with other machines they sell and hopefully the parts will interchange.
As far as the burnt wire. Does the engine turn over or drag really hard when turning over?
Good luck
it cranks like there is no problems internally. has compression. just no spark. i use my drill on the flywheel to crank it so i know it is going fast enough to generate spark. the battery has juice in it. i am figuring it is in the magneto , coil or rectifier. if i can test these thing out i can eliminate them one by one.i may have to take it to a shop cause the wires don't match up to the schematics that i have aquired.
thanks
