Is anyone familiar with the old Railbed that runs along the North Shore of Oneida lake. The lake is about 15 miles North of Syracuse NY. It actually goes from Fulton to Camden which is about 50 miles. There is an access at the Central Square exit on Rt. 81 It then goes east along the lake then up to the Tug Hill. I'm looking to go for a ride and I am very familiar with these trails. There are alot of little sand dunes and some trails through the Big woods. Gas and resturant are available allso. Is anyone interested in puttin in 100 miles in a day? The fall colors will be amazing in a few weeks.

I added the dunes in Oswego because it would be fun to ride there. Set up some sand drags. I was only there once and had a great time. So any info on this place would be good to hear.

I know the trip from Fulton to Central Square. I can get to that trail from my barn in Scriba. I actually blew up the first Prarie crossing rt 12 on that trail. I have not ventured past 81 yet, I would love to try that trip.

You should put a post like this on nyriders.com, sounds like a good time. Any problems with the DEC or cops doing this ride?

Ive never seen a cop or anything like one on these trails. They are county trails but I guess they arent as popular as The Tug hill trails. Ive never registered my rides and never had a problem. If you can get to Central Square then there is a parking area to start from. Im up for a ride so let me know if you want to go. We will do drugs drink alot of beer and ride without helmets, just like cool people

HA ;)

Cmon, I know there is a bunch of people from Central N.Y. on this most awesome of ATV sites. Doesnt anyone want to see the Fall Foilage and ride some real nice trails? Oh yea and my joke about the drugs and no helmets was meant to get you all to make fun of those foolish people. Where are all the people who like to talk trash? I dont like those people because they make proper riders and our sport look bad.

You are making me wish I wasn't at college :( . If I were home I would join in but now it would be a 6 hour trip.

Hey fox, you want to do 100miles on your 70? That would be fun. What is the date this is going down, I still need to do a little work on my 225, but hey, you never know, maybe I can squeeze out some time

Probably not but I know where there is a nice Yamaha 225 ;) . And if I remember right I know someone who used my 70 for trail riding instead of their 225 :D .

I would like this ride to happen in another week or two. By then the foilage will be mint. I had the rear brake system rebuilt for my Tecate but it seems I may wave a different bearing carrier because the bolt holes dont line up on the mount for caliper..
It figures. So I dont have back brakes yet and Im not sure whats up.
We can do this ride in a few weeks in order to get some people to go.

Well I am heading to NC for the next week+ but I would concider meeting up for a riding when I get back as long as there is time for me to work on my 225 and tune it beforehand. I want to be able to trust it for a few hour ride.

On the rear brake problem,.. 84/85 are the same bolt pattern, 86 is on its own, as is 87. I have a box of Misc parts here. If you have a good caliper you can swap out the mounts to match your carrier. I am sure I have spare mounting brackets.
I start a shutdown at the plant next week. I might have 1 day off after the 1st week, then it will be atleast a month of 7 12 hour nites. Keep me informed on the ride, if I'm off I will meet up w/ you guys.

Man I just want this thing to be done. My wife has a good idea what I put into its at the shop now gettin the seat covered and the Kanda Max put on. More money
Anyway I just looked at www.buykawasaki site to check the parts diagrams for the 84-85 and the 86. They are different so when I get my ride back I will find out what I have. Thanks Mike for the help and info, I probably will be calling you. need them rear brakes  And we will be getting together for a ride because its been 5 years since i've ridden last. And I want to ride with good people like on this site. :TrikesOwn

PS
I saw an old railbed along Rt 57 north that is rumered to go to Rochester. I think I may go find out in the spring.

Mik6 hooked me up with a bracket for my rear brakes and set em up for me so i'm ready to ride. It would be nice to get a dry week and a bunch of us from 3 wheeler world to put in a full day of riding. :beer

I'm working the shutdown rite now. 7 12s, 7pm to 7am. I hope to get another few weeks out of them. I'm building scaffolding out at the Nuke plant. I keep trying to tell the guys were not their to build scaffolding we are there to build paychecks!!
Let me know when the ride is. I will hold a ride after the shutdown is over, if its before hunting season. Have you NY guys checked out www.nyriders.com? I have met a few guys from the site and gone of a few rides w/ members there.
