ATTN: Big Red owners. I have an '85 Big Red which I have restored but for one item. There is a two prong accessory plug on the left front. I would like to use this for, well, whatever; spotlight or other acdessories. Anyone have any knowledge about this critter? Thanks

BTW. Took it out brush pushing and you wouldn't believe the trees it will push down. Yeehaw!

The only problem is, I think one tree pushed back. I now have no neutral light and it will not crank. I suspect i dislodged the connector wire at the switch on the bottom of the trike. Anyone else run into this and do you have the quickest way to check it? Book says you have to drain the oil to change the witches but, how about checking them? Seems to me, access is dependent on draining the oil in both instances.

Try that thread it might answer some of your questions. I am in the process of restoring my 250es, ive replaced or refurbished almost everything. Have you got any pics of your 250es restored? As for the neutral light, check underneath that metal thing on the crackcase and see if its disconected. If all else fails get an ohmeter and start checking.

Matt, thanks for the info. I haven't looked that closely yet, (I was bushed; pun intended). Hope to get a better look today. The metal thing you are talking about, is it on the side of the CC or bottom? John had a good idea which I thjought about myself and that is to replace the port with a cigarette lighter adapter. would be perfect for using a hand-held spot. Wonder if the spot lights are still available?

The small metal cover is just above the rear brake pedal. I think it is held with a 8mm headed bolt. Pull the two wires off and clean the contacts and push the wires back on firmly. This is a pretty common problem and nothing to worry about.

Thanks, guys. Matt, I promised last year to provide pictures and just haven't gotten around to it. May just polish 'er up today after I resolve the wiring problem and take some pics of mine and my son's SX also.

Thanks again, all.

Well. I checked the connectors and, sure enough there was one loose. Trouble was, it was the reverse connector. I did a continuity check and lo and behold, the neutral switch was found to be open. It just coincided with a tough day in the woods. It also explained why the reverse light never worked.
So now I'm in the market for a reverse switch. And now one final question. I strongly suspect the switches are identical and, if so, I'll just swap the two cause, after all I never had a reverse light anyway. When it lurches backward I'm pretty sure it is in reverse. Any one know for sure if they are, indeed, identical; they sure look like it and both operate off the same cam I think. Couldn't find part numbers on tghe net so if anyone has knowledge about this, pleas let me know.
