Ever?. Honda TRX300 4X4 - without a doubt.
As far as current quads go: I was talking to my friend Mark, who is a local DCNR ranger, rides a Honda 500 Rubicon automatic that the DCNR owns. He drives it up and down the whole 32 mile length of the Delaware canal, every of his 5 days a week, 8-hr a day shifts. Thats 64 miles, 240 days a year (He has 3 weeks of vacation) totalling @ 15,360 miles a year, in rain, snow or shine - and in two years the only thing thats been replaced is the tires and oil/filters. He swears by it and personally, I think He should do a commercial for Honda.

The Yamaha Timberwolf/Beartracker would be my choice.

I agree wickedfinger, my best bud has one. I'm not sure what year it is but he's had it for a while and it is a brute. I did replace the axle bearings for him last year but besides that and tires he's never had any other repairs.

even when it's raining?

He rides it regardless of the weather - hes a real iron man. They do have a snowmobile for the winter - but - hes only had to use it a couple of times because of the snow being too deep. I forgot to mention too that he has one of those half enclosures for it (the one where just your feet stick out the bottom half. He only really mounts it in the winter though. Another thing I forgot to mention was that he used to ride the old Honda TRX300 4x4's before the newer 500 and they would relpace them every 5 years or so (hes been a Ranger for almost 10 years now). The real reason he has to ride the whole length is not really to enforce "park" rules, but to keep an eye on the canal locks and overflow valves. They are a big part of the locallized drainage systems of the local communities that line the banks of the canal and if they get blocked or stuck - big problems. He does get real busy during trout season though and I have helped him a couple of years in the past check for licenses and whatnot. Hey it wasn't much, but I was able to "leagally" ride my ATC125m and the 225DX on the canal for a couple of hours on the weekends and after work (even if it was just following him from fishing spot to spot).

The newer Yamaha Kodiaks can take one hell of a beating and keep running. My buddy has an 01, that we have put thru its paces many times, and hasn't had a thing happen. His is a 400 Ultramatic with the locking dif. and what not.
