Its just like hydrocloric acid isnt it? EVen if you paint over the top of it when its not corroded, it still corrodes underneath your paint and eventually the paint will flake, its not huge amounts of corrosion but it does corrode, i know from experience. A sandblaster is alot better and the paint sticks better to a blasted surface also, the sandblaster is just not as efficient. Im not trying to knock your methods mate just saying what ive been through from experience.

I beleive that the "Works" toilet bowl cleaner is 23% hydrochloric acid. Skip the grocery store, and spend $1.50 on a gallon of Muratic acid at any hardware store. Its 4x the strength, just dilute with water 4:1. Wear gloves and googles with either system, this concentration of acid takes only minutes to burn skin and seconds to cause permanent damage to eyes.

Also, do not breath in any of the fumes from muratic acid, I know from experience, very nasty headache.

Hey on your camo paint on the plastic. I have found that you can you an aerosol can of Aircraft brand stippper. Not the regular aircraft stripper, but the stripper for decals, stickers, varnish etc. The paint supply place carries it locally. Its not harsh enough to eat the plastic like the regular stipper, but it will eat that crap spraycan paint.

Sorry for bringing this post back up. I want to know if I were to soak a metal gas tank in "the works", would it get the paint off the outside of the tank? Will it come out clean and bare?

what would be the best way to strip all the paint off a set of completely stripped cases? i can get them bead blasted but then the threaded holes get all filled up and a ******* to clean. would taht aircraft stripper do the trick? anyone ever took them down to bare aluminum?

that aircraft remover is extremely potent, we put some on the hood of my friends old truck and it ate through all the layers, my guess is that it would work. be careful though, my hands were burning all night from not using gloves which it would probably eat through.

what about muriatic acid? would that take paint off or just eat the aluminum and ruin the gasket surfaces?

I used brake fluid to remove the camo off my "R". It was strong enough to soften the paint, but not strong enough to hurt the plastic. :beer

Hmm If I were to stuff a body in there would it come out like nice bleach white bones? Seriously use that stuff and a sandblaster and your good to go. Brake Fluid is for getting even with someone by squirting nasty words on their car. It eats it away bad. Im to lazy so I just had mine Acid dipped Blasted and PowderCoated.
