I dont know about the 125, but i know that the 250 has quite the power, and seems to be a very nice bike....just be sure to keep an eye on the spokes, and keep em tight, dont run cheap oil (IE: pennzoil tc-w3) something like klotz r-50, golden spectro, Bel Ray H1R, Ben'ol is alright, but i hear it gums up your powervalve....i personally run Klotz R-50

It's more than likely the stator windings. Dont get on from ricky stator.
You need to ohm and output test it.

here's a link with info. You need to look up the # for your bike, then go t the spec page. Then test yours; http://www.electrexusa.com/electrex_fault_finding.html

I checked prices on Electrexusa, and got 170.00, which isnt as much as i thought it would be, but is still a little chunk....Ricky stator has them on ebay for 106.00...but you said dont get one from them....Have you had bad dealings with them?

OK TimSr, got a question for ya....The stator has power coming out of it....should the pulser coil have power coming out of it also???

Oh yeah....I tried a new plug.....im the kind of person that doesnt like to do more than i have to....so the plug was my first clue! but still nothing

Those years of rm's were known for stator problems. You just need to see if the ohm resistance as well as a/c output voltage is within specs. They tend to go low on both. Heres the chart; C45: 135Ω blue to black
Ours went bad on our rm and we went thru 3 or 4 ricky stator's product. Now were about a year with the electrex unit.
Good luck...................
