Hi all,
I have been reading this forum for a couple weeks and thought I would register and say "howdy".

I hail from Arizona and my family and I love to ride in the desert and the dunes any time we can, "when it's not too hot!!!".

We got some toys last year and have been riding as much as possible since. I rode 8 years ago on a KX500<--- very fast bike!!!
Now I have a 1999 400EX my wife rides an 84 250R "I steal it when she isn't looking!!" and my daughter rides a 1998 TRX90, "ok I steal it too".

So if any of you are in the area look us up, we are always ready to go riding!!

Thanks,
I picked up the bike for $300 and rebuilt the top end. I am still looking for the plastic scoops that go on the tank but other than that it has ran great and been really easy to work on.

Thanks for the welcomes all.

Dammit! "Nice screen name" ,
We ride all over the place including the white tank mountains on the west side, Rolls OHV park "just north of Saguaro lake" and the old standby 4Peaks on the east side. Our last ride was the Sat. before Labor day at 4 Peaks, it was great!! Very few people were there and the weather was awsome for this time of year!!! Where do you ride?

fireheart,
I can feel the pain of trying to get a new ride going!! I was a little worried about being able to find parts for such an old bike but luckily there is a good aftermarket supply for the 250R. The only part I can not find for it is a couple scoops for the tank.
How's the market for the bikes you picked up?

I actually have a guy down the street from me selling an 85 350X for $1200 that looks to be prestine, I am trying to talk the wife into letting me get. Does that sound like a good deal???

I picked up both rides for $300.00. They were running when they were parked about three years ago. I hope all they really need is a good cleaning.

Where do you ride?

I'm still trying to figure that out actually. My bike broke down not long after I brought it out here so I don't know the good riding spots. Only places I've been is some wash at around 120thave and Camelback, 67th ave and Happy Valley and Sycamore Creek (that's somewhere near Four Peaks). I think Four Peaks is on the other side of the highway right? I've only been there a couple of times. Can't even remember the way to be honest. I'm just now getting my R going after being broken down in the garage for 7 years.

Where are these other places you mentioned located?

firehart,
I hope for the best for you. I have seen a lot of vehicles come back to life with just a good cleaning, hopefully your bikes will also!!

vartiak15,
Thanks, I try to look on ebay atleast once a week. Haven't had any pop up yet.

83185s,
I love R.M. get alot of my parts through them!!! It was actually cheaper for me to buy 2 sets of tires mounted on the rims and get them shipped to me than it would have been to get them locally!!!!

Dammit!,
Sycamore is across the highway from 4peaks. There are some good trails to ride out there, the only problem is all the idiots leaving there trash everywhere!!! The white tank mountains are located just north of I60 and Miller road. There is a "big" sand hill and a ton of trails out there!!!

If you want to get together some time we are always looking for more people to go riding with.

Do you ever ride on weekdays? My job has me working weekends pretty consistantly.

Hi guys.
I'm kinda new to this board as well and live in Mesa. Seems there is a growing number of AZ riders with trikes starting. I go out to lower Syacamore and The Rolls alot. Just about every weekend. Maybe sometime soon we can all hook up & ride.

BTW, Welcome to the boards.

I have gotten SOOOOOoooooo many nice parts for my ol 82 250R from Arizona. Crisp, Clean, and No Rust! Ironically, the 'R' itself was originally from California. I bought it here in NY this summer. A guy here in NY got it shipped from Cali a year or 2 ago. Seems to be a lot of ATV salvage places out that way on eBay.

Was that seat on your R when you bought it??? Wonder who printed up the black seat with 250R on the side and HONDA on the back.

Here's a pic of my 'Trike-festa" of HONDA"s....

I also have a "Trike-festa" of Yamaha's, but I haven't had the urge or ambition to get much accomplished on the 2 ERN's and a DX when I got these Honda's to ride! haahahaa I do have a shop full-o-parts to whoever has the ERN.

Bruce :TrikesOwn

P.S. - My trike/pictures are always a "work in progress"... I got the new rims and tires/axle extenders for the 'R' mounted on a couple weeks ago. Those are from AZ!!!

The "Showgirl" I haven't gotten around to mounting the new 6-pack grab bar on yet, or putting the new brake pads in on the rear caliper. It's strapped up so it doesn't damage the new OEM axle/bearings/sprocket/rotor/etc work I did on it last month. :Bounce

The "Go-Go Girl" I didn't have the red front fork/disk covers on it.. I rebuilt the forks with Progressive Springs, seals and boots last month too.

Dammit!,
I have off every Thurs,Fri,Sat and every other Wed. I would really like to go during the week some time!!! My cell# is (602) 363-8640. Give me a call and let's set something up.

250Roger,
I was out at 4Peaks last weekend!!! Haven't been over to lower Syc. in a while. I would like to go anytime, give me a call. "see above"
Thanks for the welcome.

350x'inNY,
I see how it is, all you "Easterners" getting all our good parts... HAHA
We do have some good "old" bikes out here!!!
That was the seat on it when I got it, so I am not sure where it came from??
Nice Trikes there!!! I still have to rebuild the front forks on the "R". I was reading about the progressive springs for them but haven't really checked into them, are they worth the extra $$ ???

350x'inNY
09-21-2004, 10:21 PM
Yep... www.BikeBandit.com had a sale on them this summer... $62 for a set! Well worth it for a larger rider (250+lbs) and to add some stiffness to some 20+ yr old springs!

350x'inNY,
Thanks!! I will pick a set of them up before I do the rebuild!!! Although my wife isn't 250+ lbs I think they will be good for jumping also!!!!

smokinp,
Thanks!!!

No one mentioned anything about the 350x I was talking about getting into for $1200. It is cherry from what I saw.. Does that sound like a good deal??

For sure. If its in good shape the mudflap alone is worth over $200
