I was at a garage sale and saw a a 1984 200X. Its all original and there is no rust or cracks in the seat or plastic. Tires and everything look good, even still has the tool box. The thing is he ran the motor out of oil and the motor needs allot of work. Way more than I want to deal with. I had my 200X rebuilt with everything new and it was $800. I'm not doing that again.

So my question is what is it worth? Should I buy it and part it out on ebay. It would kill me to do such a thing but the motor is shot. He took the head off and its destroyed. It didn't sell at the garage sale casue he wanted $300 for it. I offered him $100 and he said no. Do you think its worth $200?

I gues I could make it a project. I am located in Soutern Calif, Orange County.

Anyone ever seen that add for that engine trade shop that will ship you a rebuilt engine for the trade in of your shot engine and some money. I wonder how much. I think there located in Iowa somewhere. They specialize in old bikes and atc's.

Yes, it is work it. If all it needs is a motor and is complete other then that you should be able to find a good running motor for about $150-$200. You could easily make money by parting it on ebay but that would end up being more work then putting a running engine in it.

Thanks a bunch. I would spend up to $500 on a motor and put that in the bike and then have $700 total into it and it would be a clean reliable 200X. I'll call the guy.

Dammit!

I'd buy something like that for $300 in a heartbeat. After I get the R the way I want it, I might get a project bike myself. Maybe an older R or a 200/350x.
