What oil would you recommend putting into a '84 Big Red? Does anyone know how much it would take?

Also, how would I go about getting the oil out of the engine?

I would recomend mineral API service rated oil, NO SYNTHETICS. 5W-30 in the winter and 10W-40 in the summer or 20W-50 if u do a lot of low speed riding, and idleing. To check the level you pull out the dipstick, clean it off, and stick it in untill the threads touch each other, and take the reading from there. I do not know how many quarts. An expert or other owner could tell you. There should be a drain plug, underneath the trike.

It will take around a quart of Oil.
As far as Oil: I personally use Castrol GTX 10w-30 year round in everything I own.
If my fleet keeps growing I will be buying it by the Tanker Truck. lol

Just changed mine on my 84 big red. Yes it takes about 1 1/2 quarts
I run 5w-30 in the wintertime, but if your further south probably 10w (what i run in the summer) There's a drain plug to unscrew on the opposite side you fill from. :) I also took a compresser and blew out the fuel filter best i could

Thanks to all of you, it was a lot of help...I'm going to use Castrol 20/50, my uncle has been running these bikes for years and told me to try it, he said he likes it best out of all. Again, thanks, every comment was very well appreciated.
