82 trimoto pull starter

I had to change the rope on my pull starter for my 82 tromoto 175 and when I took it apart it blew the spring. I put it together how my manual says and it turns the motor over backwards...counter clockwise...is this right? My manual dosn't have good instructions so I am kind of lost.

I'm guessing you installed backwards.

LOL I did the same thing, and it started up and then ate my recoil. OOOOPS ;)
