do you want to tear into the engine or do you just want bolt on performance?air filter-K&N or Uni
exhuast-Dg(www.dgperf.com)
what size tires are you running?what are the conditions/terrain that you ride in?perhaps a tire/sprocket change will help you out?are you looking for bottom or top end?how much money do you want to spend?

sorry to say but if you want any real power at all... you might want to consider buying a 2 stroke 3 wheeler such as a 250r tri z 250 t3 one of those... sound sliek you have the money to do it also or you could dump it into the 200cc engine that you arnt in the end going to see much from.

but if you do 1g should wake up the x quite a bit if you go the route

yes and no the k/n will make more power but take the lid off and you will tell a difference with the lid i cant tell the difference get the dg excellerator exhaust and a k/n filter no lid and a cam and if u got the money i would look into a bigbore kit

ive been around i sadley got rid of my tri z .... now im on the look out for another one....i traded it and my 01 ds 650 a while back for my 86 iroc-z and played around int hat all summer now i miss my machine in the worst way.. i missed you guys but dont worry ill be around alot morw aften now. imon the look ut for a tri z in upstate ny lol if any one knows of anything a fixer up money is tite right now... but yeah i missed you guys alot.

sorry for the off topic crap :TrikesOwn

also remember when you open up the intake side like you are talking and the exaust make sure you rejet or you are going to run lean... i have owned a couple 200Xs in the past and if you take the air box lid off you will see what i mean it will break up when you try to full throttle it because its not getting enouphg feul any more with the added air you are letting in and out of the engine.

some engine ideas for you...

older 4 valve xr 200 head
xr 200 carbs for the head (there are TWO for the 4 valve head)
high compression pistion (wiseco)
cobra exaust
K&N filter
jetting

he says he rides trails, not dunes, so a 200x is right up his alley, never discourage anyone from what they want to do., there is many things you can do to a 200x. you can rebuild the engine with a higher compression piston (wiseco piston), you can get a bigger carb, a better air filter, a better pipe, a different cam, valves, get it ported, etc etc. the possibilitys are endless, it all depends on how much you have to spend. going by 1,000, you can easily get a pipe, filter, piston, cam, and couple other things.

I would discourage anyone from putting $1000 into performance modifications on a 200X when youll still get far better performance out of a more advanced stock model when your done spending all your money. $1000 + the value of your 200X would buy a pretty nice performance trike.

agreed :beer .... if you are looking for more performance and like the X model maybe look into buying a 350X you will be much happier with the 350 and dumping money into the engine will show alot more improvements..... it would be like having to choose to soup up a 305 or a 350 chevy engine the money would be much better spent on the 350 ....

you could put 1000$ into the 200x and if you go out and just buy a stock 350x the 350 would still beath the modified 200x... this all boils down to weather you want something that there is realy room to advance on or not.

again this is just my opinion and maybe my love of the snappiness of 2 smokes is talking for me but i think you would be much happier just buying a bigger trike because it is obvious that you are out growing the 200x as i did way back in the day so i know ware you are coming from... :Bounce

Sometimes value isn't what you should base a decision on. There is something sweet about tricking your own machine out a little even if you are going to take a loss. Stay away from a big bore kit eti, you don't get enough from them and they don't go big.

Here's my list eti, it's a race type set up so only do it if you can get high octain fuel:

Wiseco 12:1 66mm piston ($100)
Powroll .395 hardweld cam ($185)
Powroll valve spings and retainers ($100)
K&N filter ($45)
RCM Aluminum silencer w/headpipe ($150)
Moose carb rebuild kit($15) - never hurts to freshen it up and it comes with a couple jets.

For machine work you'll want a valve job and you'll need the cylinder bored. Call around localy for prices on that.

Souping up a 200X? Here is my experience. Mine is souped up. I got the Bog Bore kit but I don't think it does anything. Probably not worth it. The 12:1 piston is cool and definatley worth it but you gotta put at least 3 oz of octane per gallon of gas. The K&N is a must and I drilled 10 pen size holes in the top. I got a Supertrapp haeader and pipe and run 18 rings. That full exhasut system made the largest of all difference. I did try a aftermarket carb but couldn't get it dialed in right. It made it hard to start. I have never done a cam but when I checked into it a few machanics told me that the cams are really hard on the motors and probably not worth the absue to the crank. Just some thoughts. Ohh and I also run a 116 main jet becasue of the mods. The stock 109 didn't cut it. My 200X is fast for a 200X and allot of fun. One last thing. 20" tires and or a larger rear sprocket are a must for good out of hole torque and wheel spin. Some DG wheels with a bigger off set will also make it more stable for pitch outs.
