I posted a while back about fixing up a honda 70 that I had as a kid for my nephews...oddly enough I ride it more...haha...go figure. So I thought for the heck of it, I would post before and after shots. You will notice the gas cap looks funny. In reality it is whats left of an oil filler on an old ford v-8 valve cover..the tank was dented badly and the original cap leaked, as a quick fix I epoxied this onto the tank, after further thought I liked it better so I went with it. You will notice that under the cap, the red looks rough, that is overspray on the cap gasket. In the pix the bare spots represent dents very deep dents, even had the usual fork in the tank dent, so you can tell I spent some time shaping fiberlass jelly. You will also notice the original fenders, the white lines represent cracks...so it was junk. Jendenn3 provided me with a fender and it was much appreciated. One side was about 1/2" off than the other but after some trimming it looks symetrical...it was worth it as the price was right. I began to polish the engine/tranny but am in no hurry, the chain cover has been polished though. The easiest part was redoing the seat, the original seat and seat pan were junk, I took a piece of 3/8" board cut out the shape of the pan, let it soak a day or two in water then bolted it to the original fenders, to give it shape, then let it dry in the sun for a few days and then you have a custom seat pan. $7 for the vinyl, of which gave me enough for two attempts, the first sucked and the second I went with, if I had it to do again I would take the seam all the way until they met but it doesn't look too bad the way it is. I even had enough vinyl left over to reupholster a secton of an old lazy boy chair...haha...believe it or not you can't tell I did the repair. The axles, I sanded and the used rust converter, then sprayed plain primer on it and left it, figured it would be a cheap and easy fix if needed. There was a small hole in the front fender, lower right rear, as you can tell, I used jb weld and sanded it smooth on both ends, worked great so far. The wheels I sanded, then covered in rust converter, then sprayed with chrome spray, its not real chrome but it'll do for now. I sanded and treated the frame the same way, the steel chain cover, drum cover, and skid plate were pitted pretty bad, I was able to remove a lot of the rust and spray with converter, then paint. Could look new but doesn't look bad the way it sits. Oh well, appreciate your looking at the pix. thanks
