View Full Version : difference between 85 and 86 tri-z rear suspension

hey guys i was wondering what exactly the difference between the 85 and 86 tri z rear suspensions are......

also will an 85 axel carrier and axel off of an 85 tri z work on an 86 tri z ???

No differences.. its all the same shiznit.

so only the front suspension is different such as the 86 got bigger diameter forks but the back didnt get any changes?

thats very good to know because i have a complete 85 rear end to go ont he 86 frame now all i have to do is find some 86 forks and tripples to go on the 86 frame and a an unblown shock.... :Bounce

can some one tell me the other differences between them also other then the 6 speed bottom end vs the 5 speed in 85 and also the out side mounted over flow bottle that the 86 got and the larger diameter forks the 86 got and also the 23 inch tire the 86 got... other then that were there any other differences?

Nothing major.. You named most of it, except the rear rims are 9 inch and are reversable, smaller stock tires, a little more ground clearance, more travel,.. just real settle changes besides what you mentioned.

cool i will def be getting both of the frames to build up..... i am very intrested in your cylinders that you have had resleived with bigger bore sleives ..... i know a machinest that will also be doing my swingarm that could prolly make me a cylinder also

Brian,You should just buy my 86 Z.It comes with a bunch of extra 85 stuff also.Make me a reasonable offer.I'm in NY near Jamestown,and I need to sell real soon.
