so i'm trying to get my clutch to work and i had my right case cover completely off. i pushed the gear shifter down into first and heard a snapping noise. probably not good. now it's just stuck down there. please tell me i dont have to split the cases. i bought a whole new bottom end so i wouldn't have to do that!

ehhh.. i'm not too good at reading minds, what is it that your working on?
sounds to me like you either popped the return spring out of its bracket or off the shaft, or the little pawls came out of place on the gear shift drum, you shouldnt have to split the cases, only the side case, easy fix and its a common thing for things to pop off while the side case is off because nothing is holding it in.... of course, this is what it might be, it will depend on what your working on ;)

it's a 200x. yea i think the return spring popped off, how can i get it back on??? i can barely even see it. do i need to take the clutch off? i dont have a clutch nut tool so i'm hoping it doesn't have to come off.

good thing i had a disassembled spare motor. i just pulled that shaft out to understand what exactly the spring was and how it worked. once i figured THAT out only took me a few minutes to get it placed back in correctly.
yep its great havein spare motors around like that..iv had to do that a few times becuse my clymer manuel is almost useless sometimes when im lookin for something

I wish I knew how to help here, if it was a stick shift on a tractor, I'd know how, I've gotten those things un-stuck many a time.
