Here are some snaps I took at Hawkeye Downs Raceway. It was a 1/2(?) mile dirt track then, paved now. The course used about 2/3 of the race track and part of the infield with one jump.

The first shot is the 200 class lining up for their start.

The second is the start of the 250 class. Notice the two guys at the left that collided.

The last is I believe one of the 250 guys coming across the line at full speed.

ud be surprised at how peppy a 200x is with tires that size on it :Bounce also they handle realy realy well on flat tracks like in the picture with the small tires.... i did that a while back to an 84 200x i used to have.... the small tires brought it to life big time..... :beer

that would be bad arse, I want some 18inch razr mx's. Always though street riding on a little go kart would be fun but i imagine that a 200x on 16's with a wide axle. it would be sick brakesliding turns. would be even better in the wet.

I've got a few more of this race, mostly quads. If that's OK with the mods, I could show them and a couple more of the trikes.

Hey 250rAL, do you have any more pics with the #19 bike in it? This may sound stupid, but I bought a HRC 250R, #19 in 1988 from a factory racer when the AMA ceased 3 wheeler races. When I got it, it had a white front fender and the fork guards like the bike in the pic. Just curious if that's my old bike.

Thanks

Chris, that's really interesting. I don't have anymore shots of that machine but I would think that it would have to be the one you have. This was a National race and there could only be one #19 ,right? Besides, the chances that there would be another 19 with the same fork guards and front fender would be astronomical.
I passed up on a chance to buy a former National 200R racer at about the same time. Imagine the price it would bring on eBay now!

I'll get some more pics posted but it'll probably have to wait 'til the weekend.

check out the bottom of my main page. It has a couple pics of my HRC250. It didn't have white rear fenders when I got it. I did that. Otherwise the bike was how I got it.

Look at the bottom of this page (http://home.comcast.net/~durchanek2/homepage.htm)

I checked out your page and I'd say that has to be the same machine. It has the same tilted numbers on the front number plate. I bet you're really kickin' yourself for selling it!

I believe those are just go-cart wheel & tires so they should be easy to get. The trick would be matching them to your hubs.

Looks like an embarasing moment for those two tangled riders.

Love those 200X's, pretty sweet with those low fat rears, I want the same setup on my Tecate, prollay switch my eBay 84 forks to the short setup in the Jimmy White manual so I can switch back and forth or just look for a nice 200x.

Great Pics 250rAl!

Hey ChrisD, I was studying the pictures and that's pretty convincing evidence that it could be your old 250R!

There are a few more of this race but they're pretty much duplicates of ones I've already posted.

Hey Jeb,

That's pretty wild stuff. I wish there were more pics. The guy I bought it from was a factory racer. I found it at random in the local paper.

TecateCraze if you go to 3wheelerworld.com, and then to the "Back in the Day" section, there is quite a few pictures from the 85 Lorreta Lyns GNC. Even a picture of the 200R.

thank you... what I was hoping for was someone might have a picture of a 200r or 250r racer like the one in the picture in that link without somebodys body in the way . I have some in my 3Wheeling magazines but they are all are small pictures and they are in black and white .

Chris, I went through my 3Wheeling magazines from '87 last night looking at the GNC races. I thought I might see another picture of your machine but no luck. There were only a few B&W pictures for each race so the chances I would find what I was looking for were pretty slim.

Thanks for looking. It's just fun to go back in the day and remember the old bike. I still kept the number 19 on my "new" racer. It sitting patiently in the garage for the winter ice races....still wearing the studded shoes. I can't wait to ride it again.
