on my 110 my exhaust studs broke in half on both studs and need to know how to take them off any specile tools or technices thanks

if you can get on it with vise grips you could try that, or if not you can drill it out and use the screw extractor.....

I actually had to drill one out before and re-do the threads with my trusty tap and die set.

good luck....broken bolts are tough!

go to the local hardware/automotiv store and look for sumin called easy outs...you have to drill the center of the stud out and then tap the easy out in and then it unscrews with the easy out....or drill them both out and retap it and get new studs

Place a nut over the remains of the stud, weld to together, screw out busted stud...............

I should write this down b/c that is a wicket trick! Nice.... if you can do this!
But no offence but if you don't know what a screw extractor or tap and die is you probably can't weld either. :eek:

no i was just making sure what it is and i can weld but would a arc welder work ? almac16 your a fool no offence hah ha

yes a arc welder will work if there is enough of the stud sticking out to weld a nut on....i thought you ment the stud had snapped in the threds itsself :p just when your welding do it in short bursts as to make sure you dont warp anything from getting too hot cuze the head is aluminum.

no i tried welding it ,vice grip and flaming it .it wont come out i need that thing out anyone know anything else

bite the bullet and drill it out.

Get a tap and die set and fix the threads.

yaeh i found a set in my barn but how do i drill it out i tried a hand drill but it is to hard to keep it in one spot and takes way to long

hmmm better get yourself a power drill !

start with a tiny bit to get your line started and then use a big bit

thats what i did, worked like a charm, and yes i used an arc welder.

No room for a drill behind the frame, sick of the noise. Don't feel like pulling the motor at this time. My poor fender.. :) This worked out well, I suspect the stainless screw will never freeze. It is like a quick change exhaust.

I added a chrome muffler from a Harley under there as well, sounds real good and is quiet now!! Runs as good as an open header!!

Made a cool bracket for the muffler now, and am making a slick holder for that ammo box behind/under the seat.

the weld just craked and broke off
