how do yo guys start your crf450's. I just got a crf450 quad and I am having a big problem starting it. I have heard they are tough to start. starting it is a far cry from my 250r, I got is running a few times, the other times I got pull started. the vavles were adjusted yesterday.

it should have a compression release....hold in the compression release and push the kickstarter down about halfway through the comp. cycle, then kick it as hard as you can! my friend has a yz426f dirtbike, and thats how he starts it.

450's are just that way. i have never seen one start within the first few kicks unless it was good and warmed up.

They don't have a compression release, it's internal and automatic. They are easy to start. If it's cold try to twist the trottle a few times to pump some gas into the engine, should fire right up. If it's hot just hold the hot start. I think they start great.

If you tip the bike over on Its left side for like 15 secs or so,the carb will fill up with gas. Then kick it! that should do the trick if your having probs..Just dont forget to use the comp release...

Not too sure about RMs...first thing i would check is the spark plug wire and cap..check the plug gap, and make sure your plug is clean..Then i would look at the stator..Maybe get a climbers book for your bike and trouble shoot no spark..I bet its something easy! most of the time it is, but you never know.. Also make sure your getting a good ground! Good luck man!!!

Hey Fox! I had a manual (suzuki manual.....but i could never find it....and for some reason when you said "climber" i thought about my attic......funny thought but thats where it was). bought an OHM meter earlier and checked the stator....thats what it is!
