I have a '93 Blaster, and I was wondering if I should rebuild the top end, because I don't think it ever has, and my buddies '91 300 Foreman S is never too far behind me. I thought i should smoke him, but over about a mile and half, I wasn't anymore than 200 yards in front of him, and I got waxed by a '89 Suziki 250 bike. So how much would it cost and would it be worth it to rebuild the top end?

Check your compression. If you are within the acceptable range, there is no need for a rebuild. Your bike may just not be as fast as you thought it was to start of with.....

Well, if you have an 11 year old 2-stroke that has been ridden hard and on a daily basis, chances are you need a good overhaul. Also, that would be a '91 300 Fourtrax you are talking about, and actually the 2x4 models were relatively fast for a utility. And if you can beat a later model ('87 and up) Suzuki 250 Quadracer with a Blaster, there's something wrong with the Quadracer. :D

Oh yeah, almost forgot... if you are wanting to do a nice, well-done rebuild, I would recommend getting the cylinder bored to the NEXT available size, don't get it bored to the max as this will only gain a slight increase in cc's but will make the cylinder walls very thin, which in return will eventually crack the cylinder due to heat (even worse on an air-cooled). So if you want to do it right...get a fresh new bore, piston and rings, top-end gasket set, and I would also recommend some new reeds. If you have stock reeds, they are bound to be cracked and warped.

Bore: $50-$75 for a good one (including hone)
Piston and rings: around $90
Gasket set: around $20-$30
Good set of aftermarket reeds: $30-$50
Spark plug: $3

It is a 4x4 Foreman, and does about 48 - 50 mph

Is there any slighter cheeper way, I bought the quad for $300, and have put in about $300 and was just looking if it would be worth it

How the hell did you get this :

... anyway - like has been said - take the top end apart (15min job) and if the bore dosent look too bad, order a .10 or .20 over Wiseco piston kit from whoever along with a new set of topend gaskets. When the piston comes in - take it and the Jug over to a recomended machine shop (ask your local bike shop who they use) and point to the jug and new piston (you won't even have to say a word). At this point they will probably say "ok - $40". I would also inquire about porting - if they do it, how much to at least match up the new piston - or - go to a full trail job. What ever happens next - pick up the jug and piston, if they havn't put on a cross hatch prep hone, do so, then put it all back together (30 min job max). Costs - Piston kit w/ rings, needle bearing and clips - $85 - $100, borejob - $40 - $60, Gasket kit - $25. Optional porting - $200 - $250.

The Foreman series wasn't out in '91, it was still the Fourtrax, but hey, whatever.

Woa, just realized that. My mind automatically assumed he was talking about the '89 Suzuki LT 250 Quadracer. I'm sorry, I guess I commited a crime.

Yes you did, a very serious one .... and your punishment is 50 miles of hard riding on the trike of your choice.
